Jamaica Bay Inn

New hotel just opened in late November, 2010. It's located right on Marina Beach so it has great views of the marina. Rooms are large and well-appointed. I love the decor. Staff is great too. New restaurant there was fun to try. We sat outside in January around their firepits enjoying a glass of wine.

    Wabi Sabi Sushi

We were strolling Abbot Kinney one July evening, looking for dinner and stepped into Wabi Sabi. I like the unpretentious decor with lots of varnished clean-lined sufaces and exposed brick. I ordered a variety of nigiri sushi and hot sake. The sushi arrived with warm rice. I don't know if that's correct, but I sure enjoyed the freshness and bright ...

This place made Jonathan Gold's famous list of must eat restaurants in LA (though, I guess it is technically Culver City... but you know). I've only been here once, but the food was great. The place gets busy and we had to sit outside, so we got a little cold. Dessert was the best part. Prices are a little higher, ...

This little village in Brentwood holds one of the best Tasting food I've ever tasted! Its been awhile where i literally can send compliments to the Chef! The seating arrangements may be a bit confusing as they have not one but 3 different sections block off to dine. It turned out that this restaurant actually use to be someone's villa ...

Wolfgang Puck’s irreverent take on Chinese food remains a local favorite after more than 27 years. Try the famous Chinois Chicken Salad. The barbecued baby back ribs and the sizzling catfish burst with flavors.

Japanese-French fusion is easy to screw up, but Orris pulls it off to perfection. Certainly a unique, fresh take on two classic cuisines.

One of the more upscale restaurants in Little Osaka. Pretty good, but too expensive when you've got amazing, cheap ramen next door.

This is probably the best bar for dancing in all of Santa Monica. Although they have food here earlier in the evenings, I've never been blown away by it. It's all about the DJs in the evening, spinning records, and cutting up the dance floor.

The Viper Room was opened in 1993 and was partly owned by actor Johnny Depp until 2004. The club became known for being a hangout of Hollywood elite, and was the site where actor River Phoenix died of a drug overdose on Halloween morning in 1993. Despite the death of River Phoenix the year the venue opened, the club became ...

I am not a big fan of FUSION food. I much prefer authentic cuisines, but what I had today at Roy's was pretty ONO (delicious in hawaiian lol) I got the Bento Combo and potstickers for appetizer. Bento box comes with misoyaki butterfish, kalbi short ribs, ahi poke, and crispy chicken salad nicely displayed on a square plate with 4 ...

The decor at Petty Cash is funky, but fun. It's semi-industrial, with bare bulbs and lots of metal, but with nice wood benches and accents as well. We kept discussing the wall behind me, which was covered with red, white, and green graffiti- we weren't fans. Each table has a large can holding napkins and utensils, and there were three ...

Iso is a good place to study at if you're in the Westwood area. The food is okay and kind of pricey, but the environment is nice and quiet, especially in the afternoon. You don't even have to order food and they let you use their tables. I still try to order something out of courtesy.
