Best mid-to-upper scale beach bar in Venice. A really cool hangout with great food and especially fun during evening hours.
Go in the early evening and grab a place at the bar. Drinks are strong, the food is amazing and the bartenders are great people. You'll sometimes catch a celebrity or two in here, but they'll be hanging with the locals and trying to escape the "Hollywood" scene for a night out. Treat them like a person and they'll do the same back.
If you've ever seen the movie "I Love You Man", this is where the guys went on their first "man date". It was characterized pretty well. Nice, but in no way pretentious (which frankly, is not always easy to find in L.A.!)

A friend and I came here for Taco Tuesday. He had heard about the fish taco special, and since we have a tradition of Taco Tuesday to catch up, he suggested something different. Street parking was easy to find.
There are 2 dining rooms (indoor/outdoor), with an open, airy feel, and a bar serving each side. Very nice lighting and ambiance, and they manage to pull off the cool-beach-restaurant-but-fancy vibe. We sat in the covered outdoor patio, which still felt like a nice restaurant. I could see it being a cool first date spot.
On Tuesdays, you can get their "famous" fish tacos, or brisket tacos, for $15. You get a place of warm tortillas, salsa, black beans, guacamole, limes, and a slab of grilled mahi mahi. Different food specials for every day of the week. Unfortunately, no happy hour or drink specials.
For $15, I was expecting more. It was good, but nothing really special about it, or nothing to make me want to come back and get them. Sure, the fish was good, but I felt like I was paying more for the atmosphere and beach location than for anything spectacular.
Our waitress was awesome, came by often, and made good margarita recommendations. Two thumbs up for the service.
I'd probably only come back if someone else suggested it, or if they got a happy hour.

Good food, on the higher priced side, great beach location, outdoor and indoor seating available.
The Yellow and Red Beet Salad (with Laura Chenel Goat Cheese, Arugula, Pickled Shallot Vinaigrette)
The Sand Dabs- served with Garlic Spinach, Smashed Yukon Potatoes, Lemon Caper Brown Butter
and be sure to check out the dessert tray!
