Another option, 5 Sisters Lodge which is located just a mile or so from Blancaneaux. I personally did not stay there, but my sister has and loved it. It's not quite as swanky as Blancaneaux but still pretty nice. Either way, do not miss having dinner at Blancaneaux, the chef there is amazing. They have two restaurants (Italian and Guatemalan) and both are out of this world.

We only had a week and were seeking a place where we could get to easily from a US gateway, yet be located as far away from real life as possible. ... read moreBlancaneaux is this place. Located in the western part of Belize high in the Mountain Pine Ridge National Park this is one of the best kept secrets in the northern hemisphere. The location is absolutely beautiful and offers all the amenities that you would expect from a 5 star resort. The villas are large, comfortable and private. The views from each are spectacular. Nestled next to a river with rushing waters that will lull you into a restful sleep. The resort has two excellent restaurants, one offering Guatemalan cuisine and the other Italian. If either of these were here in the Bay Area there would be a line out the door and would take you weeks to get a reservation. Everything from the thin crust pizza to the Guatemalan beef will leave you begging for more. Coppola uses only the finest ingredients and makes every effort to find them. There is an organic garden on site where over 70 percent of what you eat comes from. The wine list obviously is 100 percent Coppola, but there are plenty to choose from in all price points. They offer plenty of excursions including day trips to several different Mayan ruins, caves and nature walks. Or if you want to be lazy you can sit out by the pool, lounge and read by the river or take in a relaxing massage (which my wife did twice both Thai and full body oil). There is a reason that Travel and Leisure Magazine has voted Blancaneaux the top resort in Latin American two straight years. http://www.travelandle... It's the attention to detail and effort made to make you feel like you are a member of the family. The staff is among the best you will find anywhere in the world. And just in case you are not sold yet, this place is AFFORDABLE! I mean not expensive at all. This is one of the best values for your money that you find. Coppola Resorts from time to time also offers discounts or promotions, so make sure to check the website.Recommended for:Rene
If you love remote, yet luxury then you might consider staying here. They also have a property on the beach as well, but have never stayed there
