Spring is finally here and it's officially the beginning of rooftop lounge season. So it comes to no surprise that I came to the steps of The James Hotel looking to hangout at JIMMY for the first time. There is no unfortunate day or time to come here. JIMMY has excellent 180 degree views of the Hudson, Freedom Tower, and east side of Manhattan. I heard that JIMMY loungers also have an awesome view of the fireworks on the 4th of July. After I embraced the view I went inside the bar area to embrace some beverages. The cocktails on the menu are a little expensive but prepare to be blown away from the quality of the drinks.Recommended for:

My favorite good weather watering hole in Manhattan.
This outdoor rooftop bar brings a bit of South Beach to Soho. Most of the bar is a large terrace with a small pool (you'd have to be insanely confident to swim here when the bar is open) and comfortable lounge chairs / couches. The views of downtown are excellent and you'll be able to catch a glimpse of both rivers.
The inside area is similarly posh but not quite as dramatic. It has nice views of Midtown and the Empire State Building. Supposedly, the women's restroom also has great views.
The cocktails here are good and the clientele is very stylish (increasingly so as the night goes on). Arrive before 9 p.m. if you want easy access (through the hotel entrance on Grand). After 9 p.m., you'll need to enter through a dedicated entrance on Thompson. You can usually get in if you are dressed nicely (no shorts and with some style); however, they frequently host private parties so call in advance to make sure.
A great place to spend a post work happy hour (though don't expect any discounts). I've seen celebrities here.Recommended for:

Although it can be impossible to get past the strict door policy - unless you are a guest of the James Hotel, if you try before 9pm they are pretty laid back. Set on top of Soho the Jimmy is a great bar to celebrate a special occassion with an overpriced (no seriously $20 per pop) cocktail. With all around views of Soho, and a pool deck, the bar is extremely secluded and makes it worth any furstrations at the door. The music choice is outstanding with hits from Madonna and The Shins intertwined throughout the night. If you want to start your night off early with a classy toast, this is definitely worth trying!
