Some many interesting activities done here and that's where we find the source of the mighty River Nile

Jinja hosts the source of the Nile... yes it actually starts in Uganda. very understated so not very touristy making it a lovely view point. highly recomend dipping a toe or two at the spot where the nile begins.

A tiny adventure town at the origin of one of the most storied rivers in the world, Jinja delivers action, fun, and experiences that you won't soon forget. Make sure you kayak or raft the white water rapids here. And eat a breakfast chapati from the street vendor across from Nile River Explorers - one of the best in East Africa!

Loved the town, and whitewater rafting on the Nile was one of the best experiences of my life!

Description

Jinja is the second largest town in Uganda, and sits where the Nile flows out of Lake Victoria, at 1,140 m above sea level. Founded in 1901 as a British administrative centre, it became a municipality in 1957, when construction began nearby on the Owen Falls Dam. The hydroelectric power from it was instrumental in Jinja's development as the country's main industrial centre.
