Outdoor seating only, great place to grab coffee and a snack while walking up and down South Congress. Snap a picture in front of it's famous "I love you so much" graffiti.

Easily the most popular coffee spot around. Top-quality stuff easily equal to or beyond Starbucks in quality, but not chain-y at all in ambiance. Fast service, locally-made pastries to go with your coffee. Most folks get their caffeine to go from here. Be aware, though, that if you stay to imbibe in their outdoor space, you should be prepared for some acquaintance with tobacco smoke, the only reason for the absent fifth star on my rating. Some may like that option, though.

There's no better people watching than Jo's. The South Congress location is great, if you can stand the line to get coffee! The downtown location is fun as well. Different people, great watching! The occasional musical/community events there are always fun, too.

I went here, rather randomly, walking on South Congress. I was lured in by their advertisement of iced coffee, so that is what I had. Their "house" Turbo looked like it would be a little too sweet for me (I drink my coffee black), so I tried the Belgian Bomber which is half-turbo and half-iced coffee. This iced coffee was probably one of the best I've had, and I'll probably be making a pit stop each time I pass it, even if I'm not in the mood for it.
While we didn't hang out on the patio, this would be a place to spend time with friends and people watch on a sunny day.

Jo's is a local coffee joint by Hotel San Jose. The coffee is amazing and the food is pretty good. The food is a bit pricey, but worth a try if you're already there and hungry.
