Flippin' awesome wine in a beautiful Napa setting. A little pretentious, and though our wine-guide was knowledgable and friendly, after a certain point I really wanted to just enjoy the scenery and a glass of wine, rather than listen to her very detailed history of the winery (I know, I know, that's part of the experience). Overall, I'd be back in a heartbeat the next time I'm in Napa, though.Recommended for:

Situated on top of a hill along the Silverado Trail, Joseph Phelps delivers in both expertly crafted wines and sprawling views of the vineyard. What is best is during the tasting, both of presented at the same time. We really enjoy the more relaxed tasting in the outdoor patio overlooking the beautiful vines.

Excellent winery off of Silverado Trail on Taplin. Make a wide range of wines here, and the wines are uniformly excellent. This place is famous for their Insignia and Bacchus wines, but if you don't want to spend that much money, they have many other wines worth buying at more affordable prices.
Tastings here require an appointment, but the wines are great, the view is terrific, and the customer service here is top-notch. You should come here. Really.
