This is actually a pretty chill, laid back bar. I'm only speaking of the bar area, not the B&B. They make really good kamikazee's, or any mixed drink rather. That's more their specialty than beer. It's darkly lit, and not too loud, but not quiet enough that you hear aeveryone else. There's no dancing, but there is light music playing. ...

Piazza di Spagna or also know as the Spanish steps is a nice sit-around place around the fountain on the never-ending steps. Some luxury shopping stores, brand clothing shops I mean, are around this area. It will be definitely a nice moment for cinema lovers, where they will feel the famous Fellini's falling stroller scene being shot here at the ...

Monti is an interesting little Roman neighborhood, full of cobblestone streets, great food and wine bars, and very good shopping. Tucked just behind Termini, it's quite central.

One of the major Basilicas and Rome and a favorite because the crib of Jesus is found here, I am a Marian devotee and I love the story on how the church was built. It came in a dream and the Blessed Mother said where it will snow buiild the church. It was not winter but it did snow so ...

This is my favorite museum in all of Rome. Home to a mind-blowing collection of Bernini sculpture - some of the most beautiful in the world. Don't miss Bernini's 'Rape of Proserpine' - an absolute masterpiece (he did it when he was 23). As you walk slowly around the sculpture you can actually see Proserpine transformed from a girl into ...

Definitely go at night when it is just eerily beautiful to behold. Roman grandeur writ very large. And it's a lot of fun too, especially navigating the crowds and climbing the steps.

The Capuchin Crypt is a unique meditation on death constructed by the monks themselves, with the bones of their deceased brothers.

Rome is filled with precious pieces of art history that a traveler in a hurry could overlook, and this church is one. Secreted inside is Bernini's masterwork Ecstasy of Saint Teresa, a prime example of sensual Baroque sculpture.

Presidential palace, formerly the temporal home of the papacy when the pope still ruled the papal states. Definitely the case that the presidential court in Italian has all the trappings of monarchy. Grand and yet somehow understated.

Art exhibits on rotation in these former stables. The curation often features lesser known Italian artists or time periods, and the places regularly attracts Romans looking for a bit of culture.

On four corners of a traffic-choked intersection sit these four fountains, representing two rivers (the Tiber and Arno) and two goddesses (Diana and Juno) preside peacefully, adding a Renaissance flair to what would otherwise be a routine commute. We think this typifies the 'local' experience in Rome; daily mundane activities against a backdrop of truly incredible art.

Near Termini, a visit here was the perfect choice for me on a cool rainy Roman day. Wow was I pleasantly surprised! Not only do they have TWO amazing Greek bronzes (really rare, and I was disappointed that the Boxer was at the Met in NYC during my visit) but they also have an eye-opening collection of Roman mosaics. The Basilica of St. Mary of the Angels and the Martyrs, is a lovely church in regular use by the locals, located on the Piazza della Republica, just a short distance from Termini station. We spent over an hour here just listening to the choir practice.

After quite a long time this museum has been restored and reopened about 5 years ago. The activity of the museum is quite intense and offers different kind of expositions, usually about modern and contemporary arts. The building is fantastic itself and has a really cute bar inside.

It's amazing how the churches that appear small in Rome look so grand inside, while churches that look grand like the Trinità dei Monti can actually be so modest within. This church, located at the top of the Spanish Steps, holds regular service that visitors can participate in. It's also full of art, though not as much as many of ...
