    Mendenhall Glacier

    24 reviews

This is a great spot to see a glacier. You can see it from afar, from up close, and even hike up to it. The grounds are beautiful and well-kept, and you can't beat a view with icebergs, a glacier, AND a waterfall. The hikes here are not hard at all.

    Mt Roberts Trail

    7 reviews

The Mt. Roberts trail is a great place to see Juneau from above as well as the waters of the channel. The hikes aren't too hard, but it can be slippery, so bring adequate footwear.

    Coastal Helicopters

    2 reviews

The staff and most off all the pilot was wonderful! We went up to herbert glacier for a private ride to get married on herbert glacier. There was nothing that could habe been more perfect. Flight was smooth, imformative AND the pilot was so sweet. Getting in and out of a helicoptor with a giant dress and a cape... He ...

    Adventure Bound Alaska-Tracy Arm Cruise

    6 reviews

Captain Jack Cadigan told me he'd choose one trip with Steve Weber to South Sawyer Glacier over ten trips to Marjorie Glacier in Glacier Bay. He send the narrowness of Tracy Arm provides better wildlife viewing and South Sawyer is usually more visibly active than Marjorie. Boy was he right. I not only saw chunks of ice calving off South ...

    Juneau Raptor Center

    5 reviews

During the summer, the Juneau Raptor Center displays Lady Baltimore, an adult bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) who was rescued from Douglas Island (which neighbors Juneau) in May 2006. She had been shot in her beak and right wing wrist. She was also blind in her left eye from a detached retina. Her rescuers don't know if the detached retina was ...

    Captain Jack whale watching

    5 reviews

August 2010 When I went whale watching with Captain Jack Cadigan out of Auke Bay last August, he didn't promise that we'd see humpback whales engaged in team feeding, but he did promise that we'd see whales. Captain Jack is also the only whale watch provider that not only promises you won't get seasick but will refund your money if ...

    Macaulay Salmon Hatchery

    3 reviews

Although I'm fascinated by fish when I'm scuba diving, I never expected salmon to be fascinating. But during the salmon run, they are jumping on top of each other and racing up the hatchery's ladders to spawn. The ladders were so full of busy salmon that it looked like rush hour traffic on the 405 Freeway in Los Angeles -- ...

    Rainbow Foods

    2 reviews

This health food store has been in business for many years and offers some hard to find items. Each morning they make 3 or 4 baked goods. At noon they offer a daily pizza, salads, and a couple of lunch items. Not cheap but is "real" food.

    Alaska Governor's Mansion

    2 reviews

On a van tour of the city, I drove by the Alaska Governor's Mansion. It's a fancy looking but small building. There's a totem on the side, near the flags.

    St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church

    2 reviews

The St Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church is the oldest continuously operating church on Alaska's Inside Passage, they claim. The van tour I took drove by it and stopped for pictures. It's a nice building but we didn't go inside.

    Shrine of St. Therese

    1 review

The Shrine of St. Therese, part of the Diocese of Juneau, is set on the bay on a little wooded island. Around the church are arranged the stations of the cross, set amongst the ferns. There's a memorial for all victims of abortion. While I was there, I stood on the beach and watched a humpback whale swim by, about ...

Temsco Helicopters Summer Dog Sled Camp

    1 review

If you have a weakness for dogs (and love to meet puppies), a trip to the Dog Sled Camp at the historic AJ Gold Mine is a fun outing. You'll be pulled in your group sled by a team of dogs that live to run. At first I thought I might feel sorry for the dogs because they are kept ...

    Marine Park

    1 review

The statue of Patsy Ann, the dog who would stand watch for ships coming in to dock, is on the wharf in Marine Park. According to her legend, she'd meet each ship as it came in.

    Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure

    1 review

Nice views of Juneau and a rainforest full of crazy spruce or whatever it was. I don't remember because our golf cart happened to be piloted by Ashton Kutcher. There's nothing more distracting than riding up a bumpy mountain with some "dude" using "words" like "nawww" and "stoked," especially when he's talking to your dad... Weirdest. Conversation. Ever. The place ...

    Mount Roberts Tramway

    5 reviews

The tramway is a bit expensive, but it's a quick and easy way to get up to Mount Roberts. The view is great, and it's worth the money, because hey! You're in Alaska!!
