Some of the best views in the city. This park offers unmatched views of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges. An easy add-on to a walk across the Brooklyn bridge but well worth visiting in its own right. A lovely escape from the city that is only a few minutes away.

Simply an amazing spot to rest and take in the view of Manhattan, Governor's Island and the Statue of Liberty. If Macy's moves July 4th fireworks back to the East River, this is the perfect viewing spot.

The museum itself exists in an old subway station and has two entire platforms of old subway cars to explore. It really is a trip down memory lane to the time of the good ole pre-blackberry days. The early subway cars had hand-woven wicker seats and hanging lamps – can you even imagine how long those would last today? Upstairs ...

Attractive little bar in Carroll Gardens / Cobble Hill. The soft lighting and wood interior give 61 Local a relaxed vibe. The food is pretty bad. Definitely better for drinks. Cash-only but there is an ATM at the entry.

P.S. Bookshop is a wonderful book store selling used and rare books. It's fairly big for its size, so you'll have lots of time to peruse through the book shelves. It's located in the DUMBO neighborhood and is right by Jacques Torres Chocolate. It's perfect for a Sunday afternoon since you'll get your share of books and chocolate!

This outlet of the Manhattan store is a welcome addition to the neighborhood. Probably the best one-stop place to shop for clothing on this side of the East River. This is co-op so it skews more casual. Although it lacks local character, it is a NY institution with a great mix of both men's and women's clothing.
