This hotel is architecturally impressive, with a gorgeous, marble-everything lobby. It's formal and luxurious which, frankly, made me feel a little unwelcome. The staff--the huge staff--wears secret service-like earpieces and is strategically placed around the common areas. I'm sure they're very helpful, but I felt like I was being watched. Still, this hotel is in a great location. It seems like it's just steps from everything: shopping, theater, Millennium Park. If opulence is what you look for in a hotel, this one's for you.

I just spent two nights here on a business trip and the hotel lobby, rooms, gym, and staff are all first rate. It's in the heart of the loop and right by where we had a our meeting with plenty of restaurants nearby. The restaurant in the lobby bar happened to be very good in the lovely Chicago weather keeps you indoors.Recommended for:Business Travelers

The JW Marriot is Prime Time. This huge, extravagant hotel features more than 500 rooms, and it feels like no expense was spared in the construction of this behemoth. Grand staircases, huge chandeliers, marble everything—this hotel has it all. The downstairs-lobby bar bustles, while other hotels often have an empty-ish bar. There’s an on-site spa (Valeo) for those that feel like some pampering, and the top-notch gym may be the largest hotel-gym found downtown. The art on the walls seems like its goode, real art (though don’t make purchases based on my opinion). There’s also a really awesome pool and Jacuzzi, which come in handy double-time during the frigid winter months. It’s a great place to unwind after trekking through the snow, or laboring up the corporate ladder.

I might come to the JW just for the huge tubs! Located in downtown Chicago, this hotel is just steps from Millenium Park. Clean rooms and courteous staff make this a nice, yet economical experience for downtown lodging. Check out the executive lounge if you have some work to catch up on.
