The hotel is beautiful, with a spacious lobby and lounge area, and a prime location right next door to Lenox Square Mall and close to Buckhead shopping and dining. The rooms have beautiful views of the Atlanta skylines, and come with hair dryers, irons, ipod docking stations, and many of the rooms have both a shower and a bathtub. There is not a minibar, but you can request a mini fridge for your room from the front desk. I thought the private concierge lounge on the 25th floor was beautiful and I love that you can grab a quick breakfast or a light dinner there if you don’t want to eat in the lounge or on-site restaurant—and provided you have your room key for access. The only things I did not like about the hotel was the self-parking machine did not give me a receipt and the hotel staff did not mention any partnerships with the mall retailers right next door, though I’m pretty sure they exist. Maybe the staff doesn’t know about them? I would recommend this hotel for business before luxury, despite it's proximity to the mall, because there are several other hotels in the area that offer that next level of amenities and service. Overall, a nice hotel--upgrade to a suite with concierge access for the best experience.Recommended for:

It was ultimately fine but the room I was originally given had a frozen lock and I had to go back to the front desk 3 times before I finally just asked to be moved to a different room and by then I was truly frustrated.

The JW Marriott is right next door to Atlanta's popular Lenox Mall. It's also steps away from the Lenox Marta station and directly across the street from the well-known restaurant Houston's. All of these are just an added bonus to the amazing views this hotel has of the downtown area -- the hotel has 25 floors and gives a pretty clear view of the city's skyline. There's also free wifi in the lobby, which is pretty cool and lots of meeting room spots for folks staying there on business. This is a great location for a business traveler who wants basic hotel amenities and several nearby options to take important meetings. Or families who'd like to be in the heart of city and have a few great shopping and dining options nearby.Recommended for:

There is no hotel more representative of Buckhead than the JW Marriott. Literally attached to Atlanta’s famous Lenox Square Mall, the towering hotel is absolutely luxurious. The hotel’s staff were always full smiles and very helpful during my entire visit.
The room was very nice, modern, and recently updated (I believe the hotel went through a nearly full renovation just over a year ago). Plenty of room for a family of four, and everyone will love being able to enter the very nice Lenox Square Mall through the hotel’s lobby; I can’t think of a better shopping area in the entire city. Plus there’s a huge theater, and plenty of places to eat.
Even though the room was really amazing, I think the best part was the view. Even just about halfway up, I had an excellent view of the Atlanta skyline – I think buckhead is just about the perfect distance to get a full-on view of the rest of the city. The hotel is also easy to access – there’s a valet, but you can also easily get to the building from pretty much the entire Lenox mall parking lot. Very convenient.Recommended for:

In general, I'm a fan of Marriott properties, but this won't rank as one of my favorites. Don't get me wrong, it definitely has its strengths and it's in a great location, right across the street from Lenox Mall, but as a self-proclaimed luxury lover, it didn't make my heart sing.
The entire hotel was recently renovated so everything appears to be fresh and new with plasma televisions, refinished bathtubs, single cup coffee makers in the rooms, a plug in console for laptops, gaming systems and iPods and that fabulous Marriott bed with all new pillows and linens. The bathrooms are small but clean and stocked with Bath and Body Works sample products. WiFi costs $12.95 per 24 hours (which I think is a little ridiculous for such an urban location) but the rooms are very spacious and clean. The view from my room wasn't too great - just looking out on a busy side street - but maybe the rooms on the higher floors have a better view.
There are very nice amenities such as a private business center, same day laundry service or coin laundry on property and a large fitness center completely stocked with towels, fresh fruit, water and complimentary headphones. There is a heated outdoor pool and a jacuzzi with lots of lounge chairs but the setting isn't very pretty (or relaxing) and the smell of seafood kept wafting over me because the vents for the hotel restaurant empty out over the pool area. If you are a Marriott Rewards member, there is also a private lounge for Gold and Platinum members which offers complimentary snacks and drinks any time of the day or evening.
The Lenox Dining Room is attached to the hotel and serves daily breakfast (which I did not try) and Shula's Grill 347 sits right off of the main lobby. Shula's has a large bar and the food looked very tasty, but I didn't eat here; choosing to eat at a smaller, local restaurant instead. Though, just like in New York, if you're in the mood for steak, Shula's is a good bet!
There is absolutely nothing wrong with this property and I would definitely stay here if someone else made the reservations but it's not a hotel that I would choose for a weekend away.
