This resort is a bit dated, but is the best of the bunch surrounding this location. Whaler's Village is practically next door, and the beaches are fantastic just steps from the property. I have stayed here a few times, and enjoy the full kitchens. It does not have quite as many amenities as a newer resort hotel, but that isn't the reason to stay here. Great for families.

The bell service at the Alii was top notch. Our escort was a cheerful young man who gave us the beta on local surf spots, growing up on the island and how much he enjoyed his job. He won us over immediately. Front desk service seemed a little overworked. The lobby was unimpressive considering the rest of the hotel was really exquisite. There was a mix of age demographics – definitely an all right place to bring your kids. The Alii was also dialed in for hard-core BBQ enthusiasts. After eating a few thousand calories in the form of baby back ribs, you can enjoy a fully decked out gym with everything you need to get your six-pack back. The suite was beautiful – granite counter tops, tile floors, huge kitchen etc. 100% quality at the Alii.

The Kaanapali Alii is a favorite of mine, probably because my family and I have been coming here for well over two decades now. However, all biases aside, this property has it all! - a beautiful, beach-side setting, well appointed rooms, excellent customer service, delicious dining options and an expansive pool area with waterfalls, water slides and wouldn't you know, plain ol' water! But if chlorine is not your thing, then walk an extra five steps and you'll be swimming in the clear blues of the Pacific Ocean. And while you're on the beach, walk in any direction (south) to shred some juicy Hawaiian waves or (north) to belly flop from 50 feet up, jumping off of the famous Black Rock.

High end rooms and nice grounds. Not as crowded as other properties.
