Kaffe 1668 is a great place for coffee Downtown and is really close to the world trade center site. They use clover machines--a machine that makes freshly ground coffee by the cup--and have a number of different options at any given time. This is great for people that like black coffee, but they also have espresso based drinks for people who don't.
There is specialized artwork that kind of resembles a comic strip all around, which kind of makes it a little less serious than you would expect a cafe Downtown to be. There are two floor's. The top floor is a mix of small tables and a large communal table which is great for socializing. The bottom floor has a few small tables and a large leather couch that spans the room and is a better choice if you're using a laptop or studying.

I'm not a coffee snob, but I do enjoy a good cup of Latte. Kaffe 1668 meets you about halfway for those who want a fancier coffee than Bucks. I would directly compare this place to Intelligensia since they seem to have the same coffee offerings. Practically everyone hanging out was using a MacBook, which seems to be the IT thing nowadays with these kids. This is the darkest I've seen for lighting in a coffee shop. Even the interior colors were dark, and really not at all inviting, but that's the style so I won't rip it. The register person up front was not too knowledgeable of the drinks, so I settled for an Iced Latte. It was pricey yes, but still good. I'm glad to have tried this place at least, but I might not be hanging out all too much.
