Fantastic place to stay, slightly out of town but still walking distance and an easy walk to Monkey temple. Beautiful room, fantastic views from the roof terrace bar (when there's no smog!), an amazing library with ancient tankas and regular performances of local dance. Really made our trip!

    Tibet Guest House

Love this place. The owners are awesome and always try to accommodate any need. They have kept the traditional feel of the Himalayas alive within the hotel. They offer WiFi and a nice little restaurant. The garden patio is a great place to relax or talk with the latest climbers that just came off Everest or Annapurna.

Very Good! - 84% of guests recommend

It is a basic guesthouse with a lovely reception in a traditional Tibetan décor. The room, shower and bed are extremely poor and outdated. It is in the ‘Thamel’, a chaotic, crowded and noisy area popular with travelers – a great fun though! Service was friendly, but frequently ‘lots in translation’. It is a good site to meet interesting ‘souls’ ...

While it's expensive, at the Soaltee you're sure to get good service, reliable heating and electricity. Also, the neighborhood is nicer, than much of Kathmandu - no touts!

Beautiful grounds, nice location and friendly staff. The room was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay at this little hotel. The breakfast was WONDERFUL! After exploring Kathmandu one day we befriended a Monk. He ended up going for an impromptu swim at our hotel pool before going back to the temple. We enjoyed Kathmandu and Shangri-La was a big ...

I have to give HUGE props to the doormen and security staff at Malla Hotel. I stayed here with humanitarian tour group after some village home stays, so the clean facilities and comfortable bedding were breath of fresh air. I had taken a taxi from the hotel (I flagged the taxi down near the Monkey Temple) and accidentally left my ...

A bit south of the bustle of Kathmandu's Thamel tourist ghetto, but still in the thick of things, Ganesh Himal has clean, comfortable, mid-range rooms at budget prices. Decent rooftop and tasty in the house restaurant.

Hotel has a long history in Kathmandu, with many famous visitors including The Beatles. KGH has a variety of different rooms of varying quality. The cheaper rooms run about $30 a night, and are generally ok, though mine had a pretty strong smell of dampness. The hotel breakfast is ok and is British in style. The hotel restaurant is pretty ...

This hotel will not appeal to anyone with Western hospitality tastes, but this hotel does offer modest accommodations for budget travelers. The hotel is extremely basic and the rooms lack heat, but they have plenty of blankets to keep you warm. The rooms have really hot showers, but the bathrooms look really old. The hotel has wifi available in the ...
