    Swayambhunath Stupa

    33 reviews

I usually walk up to the temple in the late afternoon when things cool off a bit. There's something nice about walking up the steep steps when the shadows are growing long. Don't be afraid of the monkeys that swarm the place. Don't bother them, they won't bother you...usually. Just don't have food or shiny things that they can grab ...

    Kathmandu Valley

The cultural heritage of the Kathmandu Valley is illustrated by seven groups of monuments and buildings which display the full range of historic and artistic achievements for which the Kathmandu Valley is world famous. The seven include the Durbar Squares of Hanuman Dhoka (Kathmandu), Patan and Bhaktapur, the Buddhist stupas of Swayambhu and Bauddhanath and the Hindu temples of Pashupati ...

    The Garden of Dreams

    3 reviews

Absolutely beautiful, and very cheap admission (200R), and are allowed to take photographs as well. Even though I visited during rainy season, it was still otherworldly - the garden's title is fitting.

    Ultimate Descents Nepal

    2 reviews

Go with them they are the best, I don't agree with what Ben Herrick says as being extremely dangerous, There is a little more exposure on those trips but the Nepalese are good river guides. Make sure to also go to the last resort and do the bungee jump or chill out there for a day. If you want to ...

    Kumari Ghar

    1 review

Splendid 18th Century palace in Durbar Square which is home up to the present day to the Royal Kumari of Kathmandu - a child revered as a living god. Tourists get in to the courtyard and if you're lucky enough you'll catch a glimpse (no cameras, please) of the living goddess from one of the first floor windows. Truly extraordinary.

    Asan Tole

    1 review

The busiest market square in Kathmandu's medieval city, this is a great spot for photography, with people flooding through to buy produce or worship at the shrines at all times of the day and night. There are a number of good spice shops here for those on the hunt for masalas.

    Indra Chowk

    1 review

The alleyways here are the Old City's clothing and fabrics epicentre, and a great place to get tailor-made clothing sewn up. Like most of the Old City, there are also a couple of shrines and temples here that get regular devotional traffic all day long while the shopping goes on around it.
