Nice place up on the second floor of a building at the corner of Broad and Locust. Had a few beers with friends and liked the atmosphere immediately. I ordered the mac and cheese with bacon jam. The ... read more
bacon jam went perfectly with it. I recommend you try it. Perch also has a couple of pool tables round the back if you are in the mood for some stick.

    • Girasole - Philadelphia1410 Pine Street, Philadelphia, PA
Elvira Vanag recommended Girasole - Philadelphia
Girasole restaurant is located half a block from the Avenue of the Arts, right around the corner from the Kimmel Center, so it is a convenient place for dinner before the show. I looked at the menu ... read more
online ahead of time and was looking forward to mushroom risotto. Once we got there, I was disappointed to find out that it was a restaurant week and they had special menu (no risotto!). I got gnocchi instead – they were delicious. I also liked my appetizer – fried calamari, shrimp, carrots, zucchini and potato, with dipping sauce. It’s like typical fried calamari, but in addition to calamari, there were 2 shrimp and fried veggie sticks (couple of each). I liked this variation. The portion was just the right size for one person. It was tasty. My husband got carpaccio girasole and an entrée with two kinds of Italian sausage. It was good, he said. The desert was good too. The service style is a bit unusual – there seem to be no dedicated person for your table, but all waiters and waitresses serve all the tables. We got a lot of attention, but it was annoying at times to answer their “how is everything?” questions too often, sometimes 5 minutes apart. I would go to this restaurant again, so I can try other dishes on the menu.

This could be another place - they have pizza, in addition to other good Italian food.

mahi-mahi tacos and Mexican chopped salad… Oh… make sure you visit their restroom downstairs. And one more thing - don’t forget to get your picture taken inside of a photo booth!

I know a lot of restaurants in this area but they mostly have adults in mind. Probably, El Vez could be fun for the kids. Check their menu to see if there is something your kids would eat. They will definitely like the interior, plus the photo booth.
