A tranquil resort that backs onto the beach. You can watch the sunrise from your room if you have a beach facing apartment. Always has different activities going on, it's own travel desk and wifi by the pool :) a beautiful hotel and well located too.Recommended for:

Located within 10-15 minutes from the Lihue Airport on the "Garden Isle", KBR is a great option for anyone who wants to live comfortably without breaking the bank. I booked directly with the website rather than use Priceline or other third party booking websites since the prices were the same. Also, the hotel itself provided many different packages that weren't available had I chosen to book elsewhere.
My package included the breakfast buffet for every day that I was staying at KBR. Although the food wasn't AMAZING, it was definitely convenient. The hours were 6:30AM-10:30AM and I made sure to stop by even for a quick bite every day before starting my adventures. It took away the stress of having to find a place that opened early and driving there on an empty stomach.
The room I got was so awesome. It was in Building 2 (where the check-in desk was) on the 4th floor (out of 5 total floors) and faced the swimming pool. I could have sworn I booked a "mountain view" room, but ended up with a view of the really beautiful pools, grottos, and ocean. SCORE!!
Housekeeping was really friendly and hooked it up with extra shampoo and conditioner, no problem. I really liked how they provided actual bottles of conditioners instead of that non-sense combo shampoo/conditioner stuff. Yeah, these little things DO MATTER to me! :)
Parking was NOT free...I had to prepaid $16-17 for daily parking. Sometimes, when I came home at night I couldn't find spots under the solar panel-covered areas and parked directly on the dirt. It wasn't a big deal to me though. Also, internet is NOT free. You end up paying like $13 a day or $40 for a whole week. I opted to pay instead of sitting in the lobby area trying to get a weak connection to the free "guest wifi". Good thing the service was fast-ish and reliable. I just hated having to sign in with my access code over and over again.
Overall, I felt that my room was really clean and roomy. However, I did deal with some minor ant problems. It wasn't gross or anything, but I was just confused as to why they were there since I didn't leave any food out. On the day that I was supposed to check out, I finally lifted off the cover of my ice bucket and saw about a dozen ants swimming in some old melted ice water (probably from the previous guests).
I'd recommend this place for someone who enjoys a bit of luxury for a wallet-conscious price. The resort is also located in a convenient location so if you're aching to find some Hawaiian good eats or need to drop by a large market, you won't be more than a 15-20 minute drive. I definitely recommend having a car on Kauai because everything is so spread out and they don't have a very big bus system going on. I actually never saw a bus and instead saw some shuttles that drove all over the island.

Gorgeous beach resort with ocean front views and two large swimming pools. The staff is friendly and there are a number of activities offered throughout the week. Great location and decent prices!Recommended for:

The location of this hotel is good. It is almost equal distance to either side of the island. You can reach north shore or west side in an hour or less. Kapaa is a short drive away and it is an excellent place to get food and any supply you might need. It is also one of the closest hotel to the airport.
The pools, hot tubs and lagoon on the property are quite nice and all open until 10pm every day. Gym is 24/7 (But who would go exercise indoor when you are on such a beautiful island? I would much rather go swimming.)
All the staff we have encountered were friendly and helpful, especially the front desk.
The room was nothing swanky or remotely luxurious. Just something basic and reasonably comfortable. The bathroom drawers were not well made and almost impossible to open. I found the TV 'closet' annoying as the cabinet doors block the sides so you really have to sit right in front to see the TV. You can find coffee maker and a mini fridge in your room.
The worst part of the hotel is the self parking. Not only was it not free, you have to drive through some dirt road and practically park at a construction lot.Recommended for:

An ex-Hilton property not too far from Lihue airport, this mod resort property has panache. The beach it's on is rocky, so no good for swimming, but the pool complex is gorgeous and the atmosphere feels a lot more glam than you might expect from a budget-conscious boutique hotel run by the Aqua Hawaii chain.Recommended for:
