Best way to travel between LA and Chico?
If you want to be able to relax with amenities- probably Amtrak. Search for the bullet trains though (less local stops)
There are also buses that should be able to go between (usually Asian companies provide this service).
If you have time, driving - up to I-5! Straight shot from LA to the Sacramento area.
If you want to save time and have money - flying..Comment.18 days ago. Report
recommended SacramentoI gotta say that after traveling all around and living in California 10+ years, I've come to appreciate Sacramento more and more. Yes, it's ridiculously hot during summer. Yes, there are some ... read moreextremely broken-down neighborhoods. But it also has some of the state's most moving museums and historical sights, an innovative and affordably priced food scene, and (this is important to me, but may not impress you much, I realize!) one of the most gorgeous minor-league baseball fields on the West Coast. Oh, wait! Great vintage, secondhand and antique shops, too. And a ridiculous number of gourmet coffee micro-roasters to pick from (start your journey at Temple, why don't you?)..Comment.18 days ago. There's really only one direct driving route from LA to Chico, and that's to take I-5 north. There aren't any close by scenic alternatives (Hwy 99 through the valley is slower and nothing special). If you want detours, you could add two hours to your trip and detour through San Francisco, or add even more time and detour east to Yosemite National Park. On the direct route you'll pass through Sacramento, which has a few museums and also some interesting restaurants and shopping.
