Finally we reach the summit, right before it's getting to dark to see anything. The last passage is the best one of the whole way uphill.

Three things stood out about this hotel: one, they have bidets in the bathroom – not typical in Chile! Two, the pool, though small, is beautiful and tranquil, with a fountain, a Buddha statue and a bamboo garden. And three, the elevator has one of those glass walls in back, so you can see the city as you're climbing up to your room – cool, but tummy-turning if you happen to be afraid of heights. Otherwise, the hotel seemed pretty standard, in a perfectly fine way. The rooms are a little small but are clean and smell nice. The hotel concierge speaks perfect English. The hotel has a nice little restaurant and bar, and a gym. The lobby is comfy enough, a place you wouldn't mind sitting and reading or playing on your laptop for a while.

We ran into a situation where one of our party became ill. We had insurance but it was difficult to get assistance calling the emergency line we were provided by the insurance company. We subsequently called down to the concierge and within minutes an ambulance and doctor arrived at the hotel. In the hotel room our companion was treated for dehydration, and given an intravenous. We were deeply concerned about our companion, thankfully with the medical attention she recovered quickly.

We fully expected to pay a huge bill for the medical service, and were shocked to find out the medical attention cost us nothing! This is one of the only hotels in Santiago that is covered for emergeny medical insurance at no extra cost to its clients...a little thing...but a big thing.
The service and attention were very good, but how our emergency situation was handled has made me a firm believer that the Kennedy is a great option in Santiago.

With a familiar atmosphere even for a medium-sized hotel, the unpretentious hotel's diligent staff allows for a real relaxation in newly remodeled rooms with pastel fabrics. The other living spaces give the sign of welcome and complete comfort, especially the bright rooms facing northwest in the afternoon. I pleasantly surprised at its bar, located steps from the lobby, and the convenient and attractive restaurant "Acuarious". The main fitness center is still being renovated, but they're still operating a small health center. The pool is - conveniently or not - set in front of the restaurant.

The Kennedy has a couple of very nice features. I really like the pool with the wall water fall and the exterior glass elevator that faces the Andes. Plus, I love how close it is to one of the nicest shopping centers in all of Chile. The rooms are comfortable and easily earn a four star rating, too small for a 5. What I don't like or understand is the practice of charging extra for amenities that should be included, like wifi. It feels like a nickel and dime maneuver that should be a practice of inferior hotels not a five star hotel.
