Although It's been a decade since I ate here, Carnivore will always stand out as one of the most memorable dining experiences of my life. In a style similar to Brazilian churrascarias, freshly grilled meat is constantly carved onto your plate until you say "when". However, at Carnivore these are no ordinary cuts of meat, but rather fresh crocodile, ostrich, ...

    Ali Barbours Cave Restaurant

This is my vote for the one thing you must do if you go to Diani, but make reservations at least the night before because the venue is small and the word is already out on this place. It is set underground in a cave made of limestone and petrified corals. It is illuminated with a candle lite glow, and ...

Often billed as the best restaurant in the area, eating here is just a great experience. The food is gourmet and innovative, the services is great, and the you can either sit inside with stained glass lighting, outside woven between the trees, or next to a open fire. If you can make it out to Karen, make sure you plan ...

    Abyssinia Exotic Ethiopian Restaurant

Friendly service, tasty food, and comfortable outdoor seating. What is not to like here. The vegetarian platter is massive, so bring friends.

    Slims Restaurant

    2 reviews

Go for some drinks after work. Friendly bar service, and plenty of comfortable places to relax. The spicy chicken wings are excellent (could use some bigger portions though). The dinner menu is fairly standard, everything seems decent.

Amazing freshly cooked pasta, on maybe the most extensive Italian menu in town. Conveniently located right in downtown Nairobi. They also serve seafood, and have a large wine list. Not cheap though. They take online reservations.

    Onami Grill & Sushi Bar

    2 reviews

A popular place for happy hour, and a pleasant ambiance, especially for a restaurant located in a mall. The food is average, but not a good value for the ridiculous price, and lacks anything unique or innovative. Further the service is horrible.

    Osteria del Chianti Restaurant

    2 reviews

Is a chain restaurant in Nairobi, offering fresh pasta, gourmet pizza, an extensive wine list, delicious fish specials and tasteful outdoor seating. The service however is of variable quality, and to me the the quality of the food is not inline with the high prices on the menu.

    Zapata Mexican Restaurant

    2 reviews

Far from authentically Mexican, it is also much closer than one usually gets on the African continent. While the food is not quite up to par to satisfy a fixing for Mexican, the drinks certainly are, and they might have the most extensive tequila collection in town. Good place for some sun downers with friends.

    Croissanterie Alexandre

    2 reviews

One of the only places in town to get bacon infused bread, and they also have tasty quiche and sandwiches to go. It is also a good place to pick-up a pie or other baked sweets. You will know you have arrived when you see the bright pink ostrich leather chairs.

    Java House Upper Hill

This coffee house standard bearer is known for its high – quality coffee. And it certainly lived up to its reputation during my visit. The service was immediate, even though I called in the mid-morning downtime. The bonus to my Java House experience was that my cappuccino was paired with a chocolate croissant the size of a small loaf of ...

    Tamambo Karen Blixen Coffee House

    1 review

The menu is now a fusion of the popular Tamarind and Tamambo dishes giving Karen residents a chance to sample the delicious Tamarind signature seafood. Diners have a fine choice of different areas for lunch or dinner. There is the cosy and redecorated indoor restaurant with adjacent outdoor terrace and garden, also being remodeled, for a la carte dining.

    Golden Spur

    1 review

Our waitress promised the spare ribs to be the Holy Grail of all earthly grill experiences. Well, she wasn’t too far off. The spur’s famous Baby Back ribs are basted in liters of barbeque sauce, and are therefore not the safest option if you show up in your crisp, white office shirt. But the ribs were perfectly prepared. I might ...

    Le Palanka Nairobi

    1 review

Just opened around August 2013, it has yet to become the elite hang-out it is designed to be. A wonderful outdoor seating area, with trendy murals of famous musicians, charcoal heaters, and little enclaves for privacy. Inside is tastefully designed with a main dinning area, and a handful of individually themed rooms for dinner parties. There is also a little ...

    Le Rustique Restaurant

Outdoor garden seating, friendly service and great food. The service is a bit slow, but given the ambiance, that is not really an issue. The portions are huge, the salads are crisp, and it is definitely the place to go if you are craving a crepe.

    Island Dishes

I've had some of the best food of my life in this restaurant. Really, not kidding. Some of the most fabulous curries, amazing local food, washed down with tamarind juice. Unforgettable.

    Avalon Tavern

    2 reviews

This places seems like one of those spots that used to be cool like ten years ago. It is now a quiet little hideaway where locals go for day time drinks, or to sit by the fire at night with hot toddies. The menu is eclectic. They do have some tasty short ribs and good value choma. It is a ...

    The Bamboo Oriental Restaurant

Delicious sushi. Try there signature creations, and do not miss the "black dragon". Also order creative drinks off there bar menu, mixed with fresh blended fruit juices. Great service, and a peaceful atmosphere outside, or classy seating inside.

    The Phoenician

    1 review

They are known for their Lebanese cuisine, but their seafood gets our vote. Why? Because their spicy prawn tempura is the best, they have excellent service and you can wash down your food with real Japanese sake. Of course, it will cost you, but what the hell, you only live once.
