    Nairobi National Park

    Langata Road, Nairobi, Kenya
    11 reviews

Lions, leopards, hippos, rhinos, and more running around, and the park is located right in the city. It is literally like having a savannah neighborhood in the city. Wild view-scapes of herds of animals with skyscrapers in the background. Go early in the morning (arrive around 6am) for the cats and other nocturnal wildlife, or in the afternoon arriving around ...

    Lake Nakuru National Park

    Flamingo Road, Nakuru, Kenya
    11 reviews

One of Kenya's spectacular parks. One of the best places to see Leopards and Rhinos, and the roads are god enough to maneuver without four-wheel drive, so it is very accessible. Also check to see when the flamingos are there as they sporadically flock to the lake en mass.

Nairobi Safari Walk and Animal Orphanage

    National Park, Nairobi, Kenya
    8 reviews

This is a fantastic center that rescues and rehabilitates wounded and orphaned animals. It's located just outside the gates of Nairobi National Park, making it an easy stop during a safari outing. They have a wide range of animals you might not see in the wild elsewhere and, best of all, perform a critical service to Kenya's wildlife!

    The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust

Mbagathi Gate, Nairobi National Park, Magadi Road, Nairobi, Kenya
    3 reviews

Only open between 11am and 12pm (one hour) daily. The facility houses lots of orphaned elephants, some rhinos and a small array of other species which you can go watch get feed, and see very up close and personally. A great experience.

    Mount Longonot National Park

    Old Naivasha Road, Naivasha, Kenya
    3 reviews

The hike-up is short but steep and keep an eye out for buffalo in the beginning plains. The view from the rim is incredible, right down into the middle of the crater where there is now a lot of shrubs, and the occasional grazing animal. The walk around the rim has one arduous climb but offers great views back over ...

    Kilifi Creek Coastal Walk

A stroll along the south shore of Kilifi Creek
    1 review

This is just an idea for a beautiful self-guided little walk along the shoreline. You have to figure out when its low-tide, and start your walk maybe an hour or so before it, as the tide is still going out, otherwise there will not be enough exposed beach on which to walk. Start from the Mnarani Club beach, and walk ...

    Hell's Gate National Park

Moi South Lake Road, Naivasha Town
    3 reviews

Now, I'm no animal expert, but it seemed like a walking safari was a bad idea. But, I guess if your national park doesn't have any lions, what the hell? There are actually many walking safaris in Africa; who knew? I walked just Hell's Gate so I can't really compare, but I do have to say: being on a foot ...

    Mombasa Marine National Park

    Off Mombasa Beach, Mombasa, Kenya
    3 reviews

The park is basically a no fishing zone right off the shore where there are about six snorkeling stations set-up inside the reef. You hire a boat to go around to some of them and jump off and check out the wildlife. Most of the coral is dead, but there are enough bomies to keep one busy for the day, ...

    Ol Pejeta Conservancy

    3 reviews

Located between the foothills of the Aberdares and snow-capped Mount Kenya, the Ol Pejeta Conservancy is home to a remarkable diversity of wildlife, including all the Big Five. But most significantly, it is the home to four of the remaining seven Northern White Rhino (and the only breeding individuals of the subspecies), considered by many the rarest mammal on Earth. ...

    Diani Beach

    Diani Beach, Kenya
    2 reviews

The scenery is stunning here. Long white sand beaches, fringed with aqua blue water. There are also some very nice high-end all-inclusive style resorts here. However, as far as I could tell there was not too much more in Diani, and over half of the beach front properties are huge deserted ghost hotels which is just a bit eire. The ...

    City Market

City Market, Mama Ngina St, City Centre, Nairobi, Kenya
    7 reviews

You might see other tourists here but it is mainly for the locals. The open-air meat markets and veggie stands say it all. Still, you can find some unique jewelry and cloths, called kikoys or kangas, here.

    Fort Jesus

    Nkrumah Road, Mombasa, Kenya
    5 reviews

Built by the portugese some hundreds years ago. Its an amazing landmark over Mombasa. If i remember correctly the muslims took over the fort after some heavy fighting, which endured over many months. My fondest memory of the place is when me and my wife got into one of the towers to snuggle and kiss.

    Maasai Market

    Ya Ya Center, Nairobi, Kenya
    6 reviews

This market is open on Sundays and while it offers many of the same things you can find in any curio shop, you can oftentimes get a much better price at the Yaya market. Be sure to do a walk through first - many vendors will have the same pieces, but if you buy more than one thing from the ...

    The Karen Blixen Museum

    Langata, Karen, Kenya
    5 reviews

The Karen Blixen house is beautiful and fans of Out of Africa won't be disappointed. There's a restaurant in the garden that has a delicious however expensive menu but part of what you pay for is the experience. I've gone back several times.

Simply amazing. It is wonderful that some of the pre-human hominid remains for each East Africa is so famous for remain right here in Kenya, on display for the world to see. These pieces could easily be in any of the world's top museums - in New York, London or Paris. But no, they are here, where they belong - ...
