Beautiful beaches, great restaurants, great fishing, snorkeling, diving, only 4 hrs. south of the Cape via Hwy. 41 to US 1 (depending on traffic and time of year). Go through Everglades Natl. Park on the way there and view an incredible amount of wildlife. Wonderful weekend trip!! Make reservations way in advance!! Take your bicycles.

Quirky, international (visitors come from all over the world), with a feeling of remoteness and some of the best sunsets I've ever seen anywhere.

Dranked where Hemmingway dranked. TONS of bars and probably resturants too (too busy drinking). LOTS of history. Lots of CREEPY scary history. If I wasn't lazy, I would probably review the Ghost Tour. Maybe another day. Worth doing.

Best little island town in the United States! Before the days of the bridges through the Keys, Key West (or Cayo Hueso) lived in perpetual isolation. It eventually evolved into an odd hodgepodge of fishermen, artists, writers and people in hiding or who just wanted to disappear. Charming, tropical and magical, it's now a play land for adults and what a fun one it is!

Beautiful waters, skies, and very casual atmosphere. There's plenty to walk around and explore, and the beaches are marvelous. Definitely a "spring break" kind of place to visit with friends if searching for a place that screams "casual sun".

Description

The southernmost city in the United States, Key West is truly a Caribbean paradise. Situated on a spit of land off of the southern tip of Florida, Key West is all about sun, fun, and the beach-even the ride to Key West over the ocean from Florida is quite the scenic journey. Highway 1 becomes an official Overseas Highway as it extends out for miles into the gulf towards Key West Island. The Key West shopping scene is much mellower than in Miami. There are certainly shops selling the local (somewhat flashy) clothing, just don’t expect to part with as much cash for your tracksuit as you might on the mainland. The waters surrounding Key West are frequented by fishing charters, sunset cruises, and parasailing opportunities for the adventurous crowd that frequents this location. The adventurous spirit of youth is definitely in the air-college students flock to Key West yearly during Spring Break. Whether or not this is your game, after a few nights of parties consider hitting your brain’s “refresh” button by stopping at one of the many natural discovery museums or nature preserves that can be found near Key West. The unique environment present on this isolated little strip of excitement ... read more
is great for both the young and the young at heart.
