Khmer Kitchen Restaurant

41E Street 310, Siemrap Cambodia

One of the better tourist restaurants we encountered on the trip. Our order of Khmer Curry was mildly spicy and sweet, chock-full of sweet potato, pumpkin and chicken chunks. In contrast, the seafood soup, with it's lemongrass and galangal soup base, was reminiscent of Thai Tom Yum Soup, while the highly recommended pumpkin cheese bake was a 'interesting' fusion dish. ...

Like giant octopus enveloping the ancient ruins, the trees growing around Ta Prohm is a photographer's dream. This is another temple you should not miss in Angkor.

The X Bar was the last place I expected to find after a day of exploring the ruins of Angkor Watt but there it was overlooking the Pub Street palm trees, smack dab in the middle of a Siem Reap rooftop- a beautiful, perfectly transitioned steel half-pipe - the Oz management (moto and BMX enthusiasts) was only too willing (for ...

The Old Market is very touristy, but if you make it to the heart of the market where all the food is it is obviously still functional. The touts are a bit annoying but not aggressive.

Worth having dinner here for one or two nights, but then there are much better places to go and get some local fair. The main tourist strip, this is where you will find all the over priced tourist restaurants, massage places, and souvenir shops. If you want a late night party, the Temple Bar and Angkor What? Bar is the ...

We came and got some pizzas from here. They use nice cheese and a good oven; the crust is thin and crispy and overall the pizza was great. The service was only okay; and that was only partially because the power went out, since the other tables around us were getting served better than we were for some reason.

Lovely place for a massage with reasonable prices. I would even say this place had a slightly more pleasant atmosphere than the Lemongrass Spa near by which has very similarly priced/quality services.

The Bayon is gorgeous. One of the more magical and memorable places to visit in Siem Reap / Angkor. I love visiting for sunrise -- will be virtually empty and the faces on the temple gradually emerge from the dark.

The place from Tomb Raider. You can see the famous scene in this part of the park. For me, Angkor Thom was more interesting than Angkor Wat. Of course, two are completely different kind of sites. The jungle in this park was quite interesting. It's wild, green and brown. Really fascinating. It's not easy to get lost, try walk around ...

Older than Angkor Wat and less visited / popular. It isn't as impressive as the more famous sights but the construction and materials differ vs. the typical sandstone. If you haven't seen stuccoed brick at any of the places you have visited, this is a good one to visit that isn't too far from the most popular temples.

Though not as big a priority as the temples of Angkor, Lake Tonlé Sap is a great place to take a break from the temples and catch a glimpse of life on the water. The stilted villages here are the main highlight and make the trip here worth the effort. The best way to see the lake is by guided ...

Floating Village and Flooded Forest We wanted to see a floating village which is pretty much a village on stilts, it was about a half hour tuk tuk ride out of Siem Reap. It was an amazing sight. Seeing the people go about their daily lives in a home above water was such a learning experience. They have floating shops ...

I'm thrilled to see Cambodia finally get a high quality museum to showcase the wonderful historical artifacts of Angkor. Finally some competition for the Musée Guimet! This museum still has some rough spots but it is an honest effort at an attractive and informative display of the treasure of Angkor. The collection is extensive, the lighting and placement are good, ...

Some 38 kilometers northeast of the main body of the Angkor complex, this isolated temple might be one you’re tempted to pass up, but don’t even consider it. Though tiny by Angkor standards, the stone-carving at this temple is among the world’s most exquisite. Its name, which translates as ‘the Temple of the Women’, refers in fact to the fineness ...

I did a 2 hour horse ride with the Happy Ranch today through the countryside to the lovely untouristed Wat Athvea temple (normally the 2 hour ride doesn't get to the temple though). Ta Prohm is beautifully unrestored. Though you can debate whether or not this is the right thing to do for the sake of preservation, there is no question that the vines and trees here give the temple a romanticism that you won't find elsewhere (unless you visit Beng Mealea -- which I highly recommend). A good place to get your ...
