Khmer Kitchen Restaurant

41E Street 310, Siemrap Cambodia

One of the better tourist restaurants we encountered on the trip. Our order of Khmer Curry was mildly spicy and sweet, chock-full of sweet potato, pumpkin and chicken chunks. In contrast, the seafood soup, with it's lemongrass and galangal soup base, was reminiscent of Thai Tom Yum Soup, while the highly recommended pumpkin cheese bake was a 'interesting' fusion dish. ...

Absolutely amazing show of non-stop action; dance, acrobatics, juggling, music, theatre as more. Performers are Cambodian art students and tickets support non-profit art programs. Must go.

No visit to Cambodia would be complete without seeing the traditional Apsara dance. There are many venues in town to see the shows ( all include dinner ) but I have to say that seeing it at the Apsara Theatre is the best place. The venue itself is a beautiful, traditional wooden building, and the dancing is wonderful. Not the ...

A bit sterile and can feel a bit like a basement but you have to visit the Elephant Bar just for the history. Better than its counterpart in Siem Reap -- a bit busier and the ambience is good enough that you could almost convince yourself that you are following in the steps of historians and archeologists.

According to guidebooks, this is the oldest Buddhist temple in Siem Reap, and the walls of its main building are lined with a 19th century mural depicting the Ramayana. Pity the gates were locked on the day of my visit. Still, the multi-coloured stupas in the backyard made for an interesting stroll. And the the tuk tuk ride there took ...

Probably one of the most beautiful ruins I have ever seen. The architecture is absolutely stunning, and you can spend days just wandering around the maze of columns, alters, steps and sculptures. I think reading up about it before hand and then touring it yourself is better than hiring a guide, because you really want to go at your own ...

Our tuk tuk driver suggested we check out the war museum. It was all outdoors and pretty much a collection of rusted war equipments like guns, tanks, and a helicopter. US$5 to get in seemed steep for the area given you can buy a meal for 3 at the same price. I didn't opt for the "free" tour that offered ...

The Cambodian Landmine Museum Relief Facility (CLMMRF) is more than a museum. It is also a home that provides education and support for dozens of at-risk youth and landmine affected children rescued by the CLMMRF NGO. Many children who are part of this family suffered overwhelming hardships. The Cambodian Landmine Museum Relief Facility was created so that it might serve ...

Angkor Wat Putt is a new mini golf course in Siem Reap. There are little replicas of the temples on some of the holes. The course is quite hard! If you get a hole in one you get a free drink. The staff was nice. The only problem is it is very hot and nearly shadeless at midday! So you ...

I may have visited this place during the warmest time of the year, during which temperature and humidity were at the highest (and also at the wrong time), so I could not really enjoy this place as much as I should. Otherwise, this small Buddhist temple is just amazing as it is compact and full of big Buddha statues. If ...

To my mind, the finest ‘unrestored’ temple at Angkor, Preah Khan has all of the dramatic tree-in-temple scenery that makes Ta Phrom such a crowd-pleaser, but offers much more besides. The enormous, sprawling monastic complex is possibly the finest place in Angkor for independent exploring, with acres of crumbled passageways and tumbled walls and narrow corridors, in addition to blockbuster ...
