One of the better tourist restaurants we encountered on the trip. Our order of Khmer Curry was mildly spicy and sweet, chock-full of sweet potato, pumpkin and chicken chunks. In contrast, the seafood soup, with it's lemongrass and galangal soup base, was reminiscent of Thai Tom Yum Soup, while the highly recommended pumpkin cheese bake was a 'interesting' fusion dish. ...

You can't miss Blue Pumpkin in Siem Reap. It's nothing to with the cultural experience in Cambodia, but it's a really nice treat for the travelers. Make sure to visit the second floor. The places is beautiful and cool, their watermelon juice and ice-cream are amazing. You can order food and drink from the upstairs. The cold-mint towel was the ...Popular withFoodiesBackpackersBudget

With a fine atmosphere and good service, Angkor Palm restaurant in the center of town (just down from Pub Street) serves up a broad range of traditional Khmer cuisine, but for the full experience, order their rightly-popular Khmer-spread sampler, in which each of six dishes -- from rich fish amok to honey-glazed Khmer pork ribs -- is an excellent window ...Popular withFoodiesLocal

While it’s tempting to spend each night in Siem Reap noshing in a different restaurant – Mexican, Cambodian, or Japanese – you’re doing yourself a profound disservice if you don’t make some time to visit the city’s amazing night markets as well. The Khmer barbeque restaurants in particular are outstanding (and cheap!) and make what is possibly the world’s best ...Popular withFoodies

If it's Mexican your after, Viva is a good choice. Just off Pub Street, and always busy you will find tacos, nachos and other really good mexican dishes. I highly recommend the pork chimichanga! But if you only have a few days in Cambodia, please try the local food!

A small but clean food stall run by a Cambodian-Chinese family. While our dinner of amok (smiliar to Singaporean otah), stir-fried vegetables and Khmer sweet and sour fish soup was passable, the fish chunks were of the frozen variety and the amok was the wimpy "tourists can't stomach chilli" version. Not quite the homey, local hole-in-the-wall I was hoping for. ...

After five days of Khmer curries and amok, I wanted to have something else for a change. Conveniently located on Pub Street, this Vietnamese restaurant offered pretty good Pho Bo (beef noodles), Banh Xeo (crispy pancake with beansprouts and seafood), and noodle salad. The dessert of custard in pumpkin wasn't bad too.

It was easy to relax amid the elegant, modern-resort interiors of Viroth's, cooled by fans under a traditional thatched roof. Although the food, set off beautifully by celadon ceramic ware, was too mild-tasting for my liking (toned down for the tourist palate), I didn't go there expecting authenticity and was therefore not too disappointed.

Despite its name, this family-run place also serves excellent Khmer dishes in a clean, laid back setting off a quiet street. The waiter's recommendation of spring rolls, stir-fried beef (Lork Lak) and fish were, in my opinion, a notch above the offerings on pub street. And it's only a 5-minute taxi ride from the centre of town. Where: Off Street ...Popular withFoodies
