Kiss Seafood is an incredible place for sushi and sashimi. In fact, I think it has the freshest sushi I've experienced in SF. It's a very small room that's hidden among residential buildings in Japantown. The place is owned and operated by a sweet, old Japanese couple.
I got the Special Omakase dinner for $68, which I should not have gotten. Reason is because other than the nigiri & sashimi, I wasn't that impressed by any of the other dishes (except for maybe the Chawan Mushi Savory Egg Custard).
Fact of the matter is, though, the sushi & sashimi is enough of a reason to come back. Even though the fish selection is very limited to your typical fish (salmon, tuna, toro, etc.), it really is as fresh as it gets outside of Japan.

Its a small lil venue in japantown. It might be hard to find parking.
The sushi is worth the effort. To be served by the wonderful elderly gentleman is something of an experience. I know my party and I ordered his Special Omakase... that's 3 total. That alone made my night... and of course sake always goes well with sashimi!

I had heard about Kiss Sea Food from many people as well as many Japanese chefs & sushi masters, so I had a feeling this place had to be good. Their omakase is worth it here, because they let you try a variety of appetizers, small dishes, as well as sushi & nigiri. Their nigiri here is on the smaller side, but each piece is carefully crafted and put together.
The ma and pop aren't too warm here like some other Japanese spots, but they're certainly Japanese-cuisine masters. They have a lot of pride but put a lot of effort in each dish.
Good experience and delicious food. Make reservations well ahead of time, this place is small.
