I'm a scaredy cat... But I'm fascinated with knotts creative mazes. I hate things jumping out at me!!!! I think I'm also lacking the adrenaline I use to have years ago from roller coasters and free falls... After few fast roller coasters and free falls, I was so alert hat I was less scared off the monsters.
The roller coasters and the free fall was actually fun. But I still lacked the excitement I use to have...
We got the fast lane tickets, which saved us a lot of time to ride all the big roller coasters and go through all 12 mazes. Make sure to get the right fast pass tickets!!!! We accidentally got the fast pass for RIDES not the mazes. Luckily the manager was around to let us pay the extra $20 difference for the right one.
Skeleton key: for people with fast pass. I think 6 of the mazes had bonus rooms. They're not mazes, just rooms with people making a theatrical scene to hype you up for the maze. I loved it a lot. Pretty intimate and some are sort of interactive.
Mirror maze: is interesting but I'm glad I didn't wait in line for this. It's a room full of mirrors and they make you go in circles til the time is up then opens another door so you could leave.
Black magic: my favorite maze! Make sure to look for Houdini near the exit! This was also my favorite bonus room.
Trapped: $60 for up to 6 people. We were on stand by so we got in without making a reservation. It's interactive and each room has a really easy puzzle. I heard last year had less rooms but the stuff they made you do were disturbing. If you have a spider phobia then I don't recommend this.
Forevermore, vampire, Pinocchio and Butcher: the rooms were creative.
Delirium: Classic. Not sure what it's about but I liked the theme
Mining ride: waste of time. No witches popping out at all.
Log ride: just a log ride. No more riding hood :(
Truck or treat: the playful one with lots of colors and witches.
There were two other mazes but forgot what it's called. One had cool ginormous robots in them with loud metal music. Another one was the least scariest that's near the entrance with the cowboy theme.
Parking: free street parking

If running around terrified out of your mind, being chased by zombies and bloody ax murderers, or eating slimy brains (aka spaghetti) is your idea of fun, Knott's Scary Farm is for you. It stands up rather proudly next to big brother Universal's Horror Nights maze, and is a leg up for those who are bored with Disney's family-friendly Halloween Party.

Happy Halloween!!! Okay, maybe it's a bit too early or too late by the time you are reading this review...but, let me share my best experience with you at Knott's Scary Farm! I've been to Knott's numerous times in the past, but never where I got to go and see pretty much everthing. It is actually possible!
The best advantage you have involves you feeding your stomach, Pre-Scare Dinner! Go to the earliest dinner time available, which ensures you to enjoy your dinner without the rush. Plus, you'll get first digs at all the buffet before the leftover scraps! I've been to Pre-Scare dinner where I went to the last seating and boy, it's sad! The dining area was pretty much empty and the trays of food only had bits and pieces left. You'll also be able to enter into the park about 30mins earlier than the general public. With that extra time, you can get either a couple of mazes or rides out of the way..well worth it!
Here's a link to this year's map: http://www.knotts.com/ha…
Go on the Log Ride and Calico Mine ride first because the lines for these two attractions get atrociously long leading to a waste of time! There are absolutely no monsters on the Calico Mine = a nice ride to relax for a minute and listen to some story telling of this year's theme, the green witch! The log ride is fun for the thrill itself. The monster took it up an extra notch....not very scary, but fun!
Also, go check out the new mazes this year because those are the ones that are usually the most popular and long queue lines! Here's my take on this year's shows and mazes:
Blood drums-Remind me of the Blue Man's Group, but with a Halloween twist instead. Definitely worth seeing if you're into music! Not scary, but very entertaining. (15-20mins)
The Hanging games-Super cheesy with today's pop cultures. Great Stunts. I lost interested about 10mins into the show, too cheesy...recommended for kids!
Midnight witching hour-GO SEE IT! It's only about 10mins where they actually hang a witch in this one...got my skin crawling!
Ed Alonzo's Funhouse-PG 13 Magic show! The language they use in this show is hilarious, but don't let your little kids watch it (sex and foul language). The auditorium is nice and cool with comfy chairs for your tired feet. The show is entertaining and fun, do go see it! There's humor, magic, and sexy ladies dancing on the stage!
Unearthed-New age technology (special effects) and actually somewhat scary! 15mins
Tonga Tiki Terror-Puppet show=good for kids! A short skit about a demonic puppet and the aftermath of a tiki tattoo.
Zamora's sideshow of torture-Not for the faint of heart! A girl actually walked out with puke on the floor in the middle of this show. It's very entertaining and very real with photo ops in the end! Be prepared to have your jaw dropped!
Mephisto's Mechanical Mayhem-Not really a show, more of an interactions with the monster while you're 'waiting' for the show....photo ops?
The mazes are all great! I loved the 'Trick or Treat' one because it lead to 3 other mazes (1-4, see map, its all group together, so you can get four out of the way real fast)....Knott's is having photo booth opportunity before entering some of these mazes, so go take crazy photos before enter the doom!
The other maze that stood out for me this year is the 3D one this year at Dia de les Muertos for $1. Buy the 3D glasses, it is well worth it!!!
They have the repeat of the Terror of London and the Clown one again...good but not great. Save these for last!
Final advice: Avoid Friday, Saturday and go as early as possible! Prepay for parking online for $15, instead of $20 at the park. Go to Knott's scary farm with your group of friends or a hot date! It's their 40th anniversary and I had the best time this year!
PS, don't forget to CARPOOL!!!
