Despite very limited parking, the lagoons at Ko Olina are a great place for families to take their kids.
The lagoons are usually not too crowded, and there are plenty of paths available for those who want to go jogging or walking.
Ko Olina is a nice place for a picnic, to swim some laps, or even to watch the sunset.

Ko'Olina Resort Community and the Four Lagoons are located on the Far WEST SIDE...It's a MUST SEE, but if your intentions are to come here make sure you have some other things to do on this side of the island so you make a full day and don't waste a vacation day just here! Locals DO however make a day of this place and spend time at all 4 lagoons and now with the completion of the Disney Resort you can find plenty of things to do here to make a day of it so just do your research of the area. These Lagoons are beautiful! They are the perfect tropical beach for the whole family. Great for swimming, snorkeling, for the kids and family. The Lagoons are well protected from waves by the man made jetty. Even so please use caution and always watch your children at all times. You can see Honu Green Hawaiian Sea Turtles and plenty of fish in the lagoons. Only the last Lagoon is truly PUBLIC where the Locals go...the other 3 Lagoons are on resorts, but they are PUBLIC BEACHES just expect them to be packed with tourists from the resorts. Places to eat in the resorts can get expensive...so have some money put aside or bring a picnic. You can plan and book a DISNEY BREAKFAST with the Characters...You will need to call the resort for this info.

I grew up swimming here, back when it first opened and the water was so clear you could open your eyes underneath without feeling the sting. It's still a lovely place, though the new Disney resort and the condos nearby make parking without paying here more difficult.
If you want a break from the touristy beaches downtown and you just want to relax, come here.

Anyone who has been to Koolina Resort (Aulani, Ihilani, and/or Beach Villas) has likely been to the four lagoons along the coastline. Depending on the specific resort/lagoon, there will different amenities (drink service, cabanas and reclining beach chairs) and numbers of people at each. However, there are a couple of natural lagoons (at least compared to the others), that may be less crowded. Despite the compact size of the beach and lagoon volume, there are still several fish and turtles swimming about... and of course, sunsets from the beaches/lagoons...

Beautiful, clean beaches. There are rock barriers to keep large waves out of the lagoons. It is a relaxing place to swim. Lagoon one and three can be crowded because of the Marriot and Disney's Aulani resorts. Lagoon 2 is always calmer. There are plenty of restrooms, places to eat and great grassy areas to relax in the shade.

Take a nice stroll from one end of the beach park to the other, and you feel relaxed, calm, and take in some beautiful views of the resort, lagoons, ocean, and breathe in fragrant plumerias and other exotic flowers. The beach park is open to the public, and parking is limited near the 4 lagoons. Definitely a place to check out and get away from busy touristy beaches of Honolulu.
