Ko Olina's Villas are spectacular. My husband was transported to cooking heaven when he saw the kitchen, with Sub-Zero equipment, state-of-the-art style and even a wine refrigerator! And the entire interior of the unit was minimalist luxury, with all the modern tech touches you'd need. Very spacious, too, with a huge lanai (balcony) that overlooked the pool and offered views of the ocean. The balcony doors slide completely open and disappear into the walls so the apartment feels indoor/outdoor. The Villas has two pools--one near the oceanfront lagoon, with a sandy bottom and lounge chairs actually in the water--and one very peaceful standard pool at the back tower, surrounded by fishponds and gardens. One thing we noticed about the property in general is that it's very quiet. A bar is next to the front pool, but there's no restaurant at the Villas. However, the Ko Olina property has a number of good restaurants, including Roy's, Azul and Monkeypod Cafe. Lagoon #2 (Ko Olina has four lagoons) is in front of the Villas, and it's less crowded than the others, as well as very beautiful.

This is a gorgeous, extremely well-manicured property with top-notch amenities. There are two beautiful pool areas complete with jacuzzis, waterfalls, ponds, a sand-bottom pool and a lovely ocean view. There's also a great little bar at the pool closest to the beach that serves up frozen drinks and more. There are four man-made ocean lagoons right out front of the hotel that create a calm swimming area buffered from the sometimes choppy sea. The lagoons are perfect swimming areas for children. And in the winter months you can often see humpback whales and spinner dolphins playing just beyond the lava rocks. The resort also offers a sauna, steam room, lap pool and spa. Stay at the Ko Olina is definitely a treat. The resort also a short drive from Electric Beach, one of the best snorkeling spots in the state. It's about an hour drive from Waikiki and Oahu's fabled North Shore.Recommended for:Family Travelers

Our resort is located in the most beautiful place on the island. The sand is fine and soft and clean. Our lagoons are protected from rogue waves and large marine life (except for our friendly resident sea turtles and monk seals who like to unassumingly come visit!) We have a walking path along the coast and thatched sun-huts to cover you during peak sun hours. The Resort has an exclusive beach bar, BBQs, a sand-bottom shallow pool and hot tub, and 2 other large pools and hot tubs to choose from on top of that! It truly is like walking into a tropical sanctuary.

If you want to splurge and go all out on a tropical Hawaiian vacation, then Koolina is the place you need to stay! I think this hotel is great for people who are either on a honeymoon, a romantic getaway, or just want to stay in a place that is more secluded place and not in the hustle and bustle of Waikiki. The swimming pool and hot tub area is very beautiful and tropical like. There’s also lots of waterfall and koi ponds throughout the property that really makes it feel like you are in paradise. Koolina is in its own dream world with 4 different beach lagoons to swim in and sun bathe. The Koolina Villas is right in front of Lagoon #2 so basically it is a 5 minute walk to get to the beach. There are also some really great restaurant in the area to dine at such as Monkeypod Kitchen, Roy’s, and newly opened Japanese restaurant Yuzu.
