I came here years ago on my first trip to Oahu. I don't remember much except the timeshare guys trying to sell me a package. Fast forward now, I come here a couple of times when visitors want to see the island, they can't miss the west side. Ko'Olina Resort is a great getaway from busy Waikiki and town area. They really design the resort to be relaxing and very scenic, especially at the 4 man-made lagoons. You can rent water gears to snorkel, stand up paddle, do outrigger canoe, swim, or just relax on the calm protected beach.Recommended for:

Ko'Olina is about 22 miles west of Honolulu, on the Leeward or dry side of Oahu. It's 4 manmade lagoons are the homes to the Marriott Resort, Disney's Aulani Resort, and Marriott timeshares. The fourth lagoon next to the marina is popular with locals, because it is free, great for Keiki (kids) and Ohana (family) because of it's gentle lagoon waters and large picnic grounds. Sunsets are spectacular!Recommended for:

My only experience with crystal clear ocean water and fine sand beaches was at Ko'Olina. This is where people come to get married, celebrate graduations or just escape the world. Four separate lagoons ensure that you'll find a place not too crowded, and a golf course offers some sporting for the swingers.
The water may not be as clear as it was when it first opened, but if you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and watch the sun set with an uninterrupted view, this is your place.Recommended for:

We stumbled upon the Ko'olina lagoons years ago and I was convinced that I had found my dream wedding location. Small intimate lagoons with calm wading waters--not to mention the phenomenal sunsets you can catch in any one of the lagoons. :)
I fell in the love with the community so much that when my cousin relocated to Hawai'i last year with her hubby, Ko'olina was the first place I recommended her to check out. And yes, that brat is now living in a fabulous condo in the community with the lagoons at her every disposal. :) And yes, I've already taken advantage of it by staying there twice in under 12 months :)
Ko'olina is definitely a lounging beach so don't expect to catch any surf or body boarding here. But if you're looking for some relaxation and beauty on this side of the island, c'mon over!
