An offshoot of the original location in Kona, this restaurant sells all the locally brewed Kona Brewing Co. beers, but it also serves a lot of food! They have a whole list of pizzas, sandwiches, seafood plates and a few other delicious dishes. It's casual dining, though the price point is a tad high.

I went during lunchtime and was served relatively quickly. The pizza I ordered was decent, but the smoothie had much more uncrushed ice in it than I normally see. It is right on a small marina and some of the seats allow one to see the boats coming in and out of the docks.

We came here for drinks after sightseeing around Hanauma Bay. It's sort of hard to find because it's towards the back of the plaza. We walked in around 1pm and it wasn't crowded at all. The bartender was super nice allowing us to sample some beers before we ordered since we weren't familiar with the KBC. I settled on Big Wave Golden Ale and the bf settled with the Castaway IPA. We tried the Hula Hefeweizen and a special coconut flavor beer that were also really good! The service, marina view, and beers were great. Can't really comment on the food but it looked like typical bar food with an Asian Flair. Definitely be back on my next trip.

Kona Brewing Company can probably be compared to BJ’s on the mainland; they brew their own beer and operate a restaurant!
I’ve been fortunate enough to try their summer brew Wailua Wheat (passion fruit)! This stuff does not taste the same bottled so if you ever get the opportunity to be out on a Hawaiian island, try the summer brew! Bars on the mainland only serve regular Kona Brew on tap.
Back to the restaurant; I’ve only tried their pizzas but all of them have been tasty! The restaurant itself is large. I imagine that would be a great venue for happy hour or a night out with friends!

Kona Brew is popular for their beer, using local flavors and ingredients. The food is decent to good, the service could be better. The waitress came by and seemed friendly at first but didn't really crack much of a smile as she served us our food and drinks and the rest of our time there. The location is great at Koko Marina, you can sit inside or at the lanai and have a nice view of the harbor. There's not a lot of great restaurant choices at Koko Marina, this would be a good place for larger groups and beer lovers.

Ok, so I'm a little bias here...I live walking distance to this place and when HAPPY HOUR comes around MON-FRI 3-6pm...Yeah, you all will see Wayde putting down his Brews and pupu's either by himself or with his Ohana!
Coming from Boston I'm a big beer lover growing up at the SAM ADAMS brewery in BOSTON and I'm afraid to say for my Home Crowd...SAM has nothing on KONA!
Where do I start with their AMAZING TAP SELECTION? I just can't explain it...
I have tried every beer over there...Even the basic yearly beers BLOW major well known Brews away.
I do however have my 4 personal FAVS:
HULA HEF (Banana, tap only in house) and WAILUA WHEAT (Passion Fruit) Both of these are amazing on a hot sunny afternoon.
PIPLINE PORT (Kona Coffee) and KOKO BROWN (Toasted Coconut) Both great killer brews for a windy, chilly winter day in the 60's...lol
The Kona Brewery tries to keep all these Beers on TAP at the Brewery all year and only a limited few are SEASONAL in Bottle.
Some beers that are ONLY on TAP at the Brewery are also Killer like:
BLACK SAND PORT (Bittersweet Chocolate)
LAVAMAN (Caramel and after note of Chocolate)
and my Fav...HULA HEF (Banana)
They also have special beers on TAP so ask!
Now I could go on and on with the fresh brews on tap but you should go and order a SAMPLER and try them all yourself...lol
This place is on the Water at the Koko Marina and the views of the marina and mountain range as the sun goes down are just...Amazing. If you are a couple get a table for two outside on the water.
Here once again is a place where MANAGMENT prides themselves on what they do best...Great Beers, Good Food and Good Service.
Consistent, consistent, consistent...That is what brings people back...Managment understands this is a local hang out with travelers who come in and out. When tourists are gone the locals are still here and Kona treats us all the time on a consistent basis at a high level of service and that's why we always return. The Brewery gets it, unlike many places in Waikiki who don't and that is why those places are VOID of locals and Kama'aina.
Considering I go here 3 times a week and always bring people It's not always perfect but when we have a couple of killer brews in us...We sorta let things roll...lol
The Atmosphere is KILLER and CHILLAXIN and the staff are chilled out and easy to talk to as well. If they do happen to make a mistake, or something runs out for example everyone talks like friends to each other, finds a solution and we keep drinking our beers. I like the attitude here and it fits with my own lifestyle and maybe that's why I love it so much. Just talking about it makes me want to go get a beer, I just wonder what they say when I walk in there three day in a row...There's Wayde again, seriously, I'm not a drunk...I even split my visits from Bar to Tables so they don't notice...I think they notice...lol
One of the great things I love about this place is the fact that THE STAFF know their BEERS just as much as the BARTENDERS!
The Food is good here and the menu has something on it for everyone. Although I have tried many things on the menu, salads, apptz and Catch of the day I will be honest when I say I come here for BEER, PIZZA, APPETIZERS and the HUMMUS! When you start to get into the MARKET PRICED items on the menu it can get a little expensive so just know that. Also if you get the FIRE WINGS...They won't be on fire and they won't be what you would expect for FIRE WINGS...this is Kona's version, more like a SPICY TERI SAUCE if you asked me what it tasted like, be warned. I personally like them, but when I bring people there it's not what they expect.
If you are on the East Side around Hawaii Kai, visiting Makapu'u beach or hike, Waimanalo, Bellows, Sandys Beach or Snorkeling at Hanauma Bay...yeah, this is the place to stop for Happy Hour or any hour for that matter...NO DOUBT...I'm sure I'll see you there...lol

If you like trying different local brews, Kona Brewing Co. is the place to go. It has the mass distributed Kona bears on tap (Firerock, Longboard, Big Wave), but it also has their specialty brews on tap:
-Pipeline Porter - a porter brewed with Kona coffee beans
- Koko Brown - my personal favorite - with a hint of coconut
- Wailua Wheat - with passion fruit.
And that's just the beer.
The food is good pub food. I like to go at lunch and get the slice of the day special - you get a slice of the pizza of the day (they're all good) and one of their specialty salads.
Quite frankly the only bad thing I can say about the Kona Brewery Pub Co. in Hawaii Kai is that it doesn't have the actual brewery. Luckily, the products from the brewery are there.
