Once as far east as you could go and still be in West Germany, Kreuzberg is one of Berlin's coolest neighborhoods. With a large immigrant population and some of the best Turkish food this side of the Bosporus, Kreuzberg is also a major home of Berlin's punk, hip-hop, and indie music scene. One of my favorite places in one of my favorite cities.

Kreuzberg is like the Mission of San Francisco in Germany. It started out as the neighborhood of Berlin's massive Turkish population, and now all of the young artists and progressives of the city have moved in for a bit of the action. The area is wonderfully diverse with a lot of spots for great live music, authentic food and handmade shopping. Keep an eye out for all of the fantastic street art decorating Kreuzberg. It's spectacular!

This part of the city is hands down my favorite part of Berlin...I think my soul fused with this district. Perfect for bike riding, lots of small cafes, amazing Turkish food, very diverse and multi-cultural part of Berlin. Absolutely and completely safe with tons of music, art, and boutiques to check out. I would live here if I were a Berliner.

I stayed in Kreuzberg for a week on my own and loved it! Everything was within walking distance, including great cafes, cool bars, Bohemian cinemas, the metro, and sun drenched parks. If you like sidewalk cafes and a laid back Bohemian culture, Kreuzberg is the place for you!

A really interesting area of Berlin. A great selection of bars, live music venues, and a feeling of edginess that the rest of the city doesn't have.
A visitor could do worse than spend a day or two exploring this varied neighborhood.

Back in the days of the divided city, this used to be home to some of the city's most interesting artists and musicians. They've since largely been userped by what were at the time called yuppies. The neighbourhood maintains a decent vibe and, for me, brings back memories of standing on the Berlin Wall, hacking pieces out of it, the night it started to come down. Today you'll find a few pleasant bars and restaurants. Great neighbourhood.

Kreuzberg is one of the most interesting neighborhoods in a city filled with fascinating ones. Its residents include artsy/hippie types and Turkish immigrants. It's where I stayed during my three months in Berlin and I couldn't imagine a more interesting place in the city to explore.
