No filter needed for this picture! Kuang Si Falls are a group of waterfalls and grottos located outside the beautiful Lao city of Luang Prabang. Be prepared to spend a whole day here because you are not hiking to the top of the waterfall (which is somewhat arduous!) You will be swimming in some of the many grottos manifested by the falls. An absolutely gorgeous attraction in Luang Prabang.Recommended for:

An easy day-trip out of Luang Prabang, this series of freshwater pools and waterfalls makes a great place to cool off in the sticky heat. It's also gorgeous here, with photo opportunities aplenty amidst the forest paths and pools, so bring a camera. If you visit in the monsoon, and the falls are in flood, swimming in the main pool may be out, but it's also one of the most spectacular sights in SE Asia.Recommended for:

A downpour of water at these waterfalls. You'll see plenty of people playing in the pools underneath the falls. Be sure to get a reliable driver to take you here as it's outside the city.

I was very skeptical of taking this trip as it seemed like the top destination for tourists outside of enjoying the easy life of Luang Prabang. I even brought my journal so that I could find a quiet corner to escape to if necessary.
It turned out to be one of the highlights of our few days in Luang Prabang.
I recommend crossing the bridge and hiking up that side of the falls, all the way over the top, and then down the otherside (across some beautifully 'limed' stairs) and back to the star. The hike is enjoyable, has great views from the top, and gets the blood flowing for some swimming in the pools later in the day.
Besides the hike, I did enjoy swimming in the pools. The combination of scenery, a mix of foreigners and local families picnicing, and flowing water made this an experience I'll come back to if I'm in Luang Prabang again.
The bear sanctuary was also a positive experience. The bears are well cared for and have relatively good-sized enclosures (I understand that they are negotiating for a larger enclosure).Recommended for:

These majestic falls sit just outside of Luang Prabang and are worth the bumpy taxi ride through the beautiful Lao countryside. Unlike attractions of height here in the States, there are no restraints and you can pretty much walk up to the edge of the falls to take in the remarkable view. In addition to the falls there are numerous azure pools - some peppered with rope swings! - that are prime for swimming, so bring your suit.
These waterfalls are a favourite side trip for tourists in Luang Prabang. The falls begin in shallow pools atop a steep hillside. These lead to the main fall with a 50 m cascade. The water collects in numerous turquoise blue pools as it flows...read more from en.wikipedia.org
