A good alternative to Kuwait Towers (currently closed) for a bird's eye view of the city. Be sure to call ahead to make sure it is open.

    Souq Sharq

    3 reviews

If you're expecting to see sharks like I was, you'll be sadly disappointed at the Souq Sharq. If you're looking for the freshest seafood straight from the Arabian Gulf and fishing supplies by the boat load, however, you'll be stoked you came. For the ladies, there's luxury and designer shopping of most top designers set in an Arabian inspired mall ...

Kuwait House of National Memorial Museum

    3.5
    2 reviews

Fascinating look at the history of the first Gulf War. The exhibits aren't high quality but they are educational and entertaining. The head of Saddam Hussein's statue from Bagdad is on display and the museum curator is very proud of it. 1 KWD to enter. You may have to wait a few minutes for an English tour / demonstration. The ...

    Old Souk

The "old" souq has certainly been modernized. Don't visit for history. Visit for a great glimpse of local life. The people watching is incredible and, despite the newness, this souq manages to retain an authenticity that is lacking in many others in the region. Harder to manage in English. We were the only Westerners here when we visited.

    Sadu House

A museum and gift shop highlighting Bedouin weaving. The museum is very basic but may appeal to you if you really like weaving. The shop has some high-quality weavings that make nice souvenirs if you like traditional designs -- think red, blacks and browns with simple symbols and striped patterns.

Less attractive than many others in the region and currently ringed by construction. Fine for a quick visit to satisfy your curiosity but a little underwhelming.

    Taxi Al-Jamaheer

Unless you have the courage to drive here, you will need a taxi driver. Unfortunately, many drivers don't speak English and trip rates are high relatively to 1/2 day and daily hired taxi services. We spent $140 on our first 1/2 day of running around and then quickly realized we could save a lot with a full day rate. Taxi ...
