My favorite mexican place on the west side. Not a taqueria - this is traditional mexican. Try the chile relleno burrito if you think you can handle the cheese. Really great margaritas as well served in a shaker! Open until the wee hours of the night.

Remember that Chinese restaurant in Sex and the City? The one where people take their dates whom they don't want to be seen in public with? Open late, dimly lit, not widely known about? This place is the west coast's version of that restaurant.

Parking is usually excellent, either on the street or in the parking lot across the street (shhhhhh!!) The multiple "Open 'Till 3AM" signs all over the front of the building and on the menu and takeout bags give one the impression that it is a haven for the late-night drunks, and it is.

You won't really find authentic Mexican food here, but your usual tacos, burritos, enchiladas, combo plates, etc. A full page is dedicated to quesadillas, which I'd recommend. I usually go for the spinach and shrimp or the crab and tomato, greasy, loaded with cheese, and exactly what a quesadilla should be. The burritos are effing ginormous, too.

The atmosphere is dark, a little mysterious, with red vinyl tablecloths and old-fashioned decor. Like I mentioned earlier, there are plenty of secluded booths and privacy. Service is pretty good, with older waiters in suits who are very polite.

Drinks are good and strong. Stay away from the blended margaritas, as they're mostly ice, but anything else is good. This is a great place to sit on the patio on a summer evening with a pitcher of margarita and friends. $5 Patron shots on Fridays, too! I've been by during Cinco De Mayo and they have mariachis playing on the roof, which I think is awesome.

This place is great for a late night visit, a happy hour, lunchtime on the patio, or where you'd want to bring someone you want to take out on the sly. If I see you there, I won't tell anyone.

an old favorite for mexican food. I've been going for ten years or more, open late.
    Gets the job done!
