Its high ranking on the Restaurant Magazine's 50 best restaurants in the world is well deserved. I had a wonderful lunch here, with a wide selection of local ingredients and SA wine. The best part is, price is actually reasonable for a fine dining restaurant. It was $80-$90 per person with wine and dessert. I think a similar lunch at a 3 Michelin Star restaurant in Europe or US would easily double that.
For dinner (and lunch too) you should RSVP weeks ahead. Also, from central Capetown it is best if you have a car (or taxi).Recommended for:

Surrounded by vineyards; rave reviews; serious advance planning required to get a reservation; and disappointing. Perhaps I'm a delusional minority or perhaps the emperor has no clothes. For my palate, the food was good but not out of this world. What was most disconcerting was the feeling that we were sitting in the middle of Grand Central Station, with servers and attendants rushing from table to table, more concerned with performing their designated function rather than permitting guests to enjoy each other's company and the food. The blackboard menu was brought out even before the wine selections had been made; the menu selections were requested as the wine was being pored; I had to ask four different attendants before I was given lemon for my water; and we never did figure out who had primary responsibility for our table. In summary, good but not stellar food; average to poor service.
