Thousands of North Americans are visiting La Fortuna each year, making it one of the most popular destinations in the world. Costa Rica is a small village, but there is an endless supply of awe-inspiring attractions, hotsprings,Waterfalls and exotic species of plants and animals. It would be impossible to explore La fortuna in just one visit, that’s why most visitors frequent this country 1-2 times per year. Costa Rica is becoming the “go-to” destination for those seeking adventure, tranquility and beauty. If you want to support the Local Business and make the best trip in your life let me know!!!! http://naturalistguidecr.wix.com/naturalistguidecr

La Fortuna is only a few hours from San Jose, the capital city of Costa Rica and anyone with a lust for lava should not miss this destination. Imagine Hawaii - only take out all the bad (loud tourists, spam, and people you don't want to see wearing grass skirts). The small town of La Fortuna boasts plenty of touristy charms but none greater than the Arenal volcano that entrances all with lush jungle foliage and hypnotic orange-red lava! Stay at a hidden resort, go on a tropical hike, wake up to wild animals with a cup of the world's best coffee, and soak in natural hot springs, ok you get the idea...better start looking for cheap flights. Pura Vida!

3 days in La Fortuna was my favorite part of my Costa Rican vacation. Friendly people, great food, tremendous natural hot springs and plenty of opportunity for adventure. I joined a tour that including rappelling down 4 waterfalls despite my fear of heights and inability to swim. That was my favorite part of the trip!

I got married at the foot of the active Volcano there. The area is truly unique and on clear days you can see the top of the volcano. Perfect town for backpackers as there are alot of fun adventure friendly hostels there. And if you aren't into the backpacker thing - there are lots of lovely reasonably priced hotels with heated pools from the volano itself. The town has a nice collection of bohemian cafes, art galleries, and restaurants. On the other side of the Volcano there is a giant man-made lake that is gorgeous to drive around. Definitely one of the most beautiful places I have been.

Not much to do in town, and everything closes pretty early. It is a perfectly fine place to find a hostel though, and then go poach or pay for a day pass at the Tabacon hot springs. Also a place to sleep if you are going to hike around the volcano.

Visited the La Fortuna while in Costa Rica. This was probably one of the best vacations I have been on. We stayed in the Arenal area. Plenty of active things to do: Zip Lining, ATVs, Horseback Riding, Canyoneering (repelling) and Hiking. Awesome!

La Fortuna town and Arenal Volcano, an unassuming village in northern Costa Rica Region, is akin to Arenal Lake and Arenal Volcano. The two wonderful natural tourist attractions have brought so much pride for this destination that they will be forever attached to its name. But La Fortuna and Arenal Volcano, which is only three hours drive from San Jose downtown, have a lot to offer to discerning travelers other than Arenal Lake and Volcano.
Covering an area of 12,124 hectares, Arenal Volcano is bordered by the town of La Fortuna and Monteverde Cloud forest. The place's immediate proximity to the Costa Rica´s Central Valley makes it a magnet for people looking for a perfect weekend getaway. There is a wide variety of scenic spots and relaxation sites in Arenal. As most Costarican travel guides say, the province is a haven for nature lovers, history buffs, adventure seekers, and romantic travelers.
The Arenal Volcano is home to a number of premier attractions such as the natural Hot Springs Beach just at the foot of the Volcano, the liquid lava tour, Hanging Bridges hidden in the rainforest, the top tree ziplines and great horseback riding tours. If these attractions bumming does not appeal to you, then soak into the fresh waters of La Fortuna Falls in La Fortuna town, and Tabacon Hot Springs.
La Fortuna, which has a population of around 6,000 people, is also known for its rich historic past. Traces of the rich Spanish influences on the province are evident in old churches that are still standing proudly at the center of La Fortuna town.
Lake Arenal is situated in the northern highlands of Costa Rica, in the provinces of Guanacaste and Alajuela. It is located in the Arenal Tilaran Conservation Area, and is in close proximity to the Arenal Volcano and Monteverde cloud forest.
The lake is approximately 30 km long and almost 5 km at its widest point, making it the largest lake in Costa Rica at 85-square-kilometre (33 sq mi). It's depth varies between 30 and 60 meters (100–200 feet) depending on the season.
The town of Arenal was relocated to higher ground when the lake was expanded in 1979. The old towns of Arenal and Tonadora now lie abandoned at the bottom of the lake, with the new town of Arenal existing to the northeast on the lake.
Las Colinas Arenal Hotel, an eco-friendly small hotel is one of the most recognized bed & breakfast in La Fortuna town, located in the heart of the La Fortuna, only 1 block from central park and 10 minutes from main volcano view points, Las Colinas Arenal Hotel offers nice décor rooms and a fantastic Volcano view from its open-air terrace. We have information about the destinations, how to get there, what to do while in the area and more! Destinations in the beaches or in the mountains, destinations under water, destinations right at the middle of La Fortuna, name it and we will most likely feature it.
