The remains of the catholic mission are very impressive. The size of the structures and what the mission must have looked like before the priests were kicked out of Paraguay, Bolivia, and Argentina is hard to imagine. It is definitely a must see, especially for those who are interested in colonial history

Known more as Las Ruinas of Trinidad, it's about an hour away from Encarnacion. It's a UNESCO site, yet hardly visited. I may have been the only one there other than workers taking a nap in the shade. Let it be noted that it is something spectacular though when you have a place like this to yourself, no matter how small. The palm trees gave a great touch.
