One of my favorite beaches in SoCal! Beautiful, clean beach with a fun pier and good dining options nearby. If you want a nice place to stay, I'd recommend the Beach House Hotel.

If not for the parking, I'd say five stars. There are some great neighborhoods here with a ton of food options. Eat to you heart's content and then go enjoy the sunset over the ocean. I love the Sawtelle region and random gems like A Frame. Just be prepared for tons of traffic as you meander through the streets and ...

Universal City is an entertaining place for movie lovers and families. It is a combination of a theme park and movie studio. It's one of the oldest movie studios still in use today. I went here with my family several years ago and had fun on the rides.

On the up and up, nice and peaceful without quite having that valley stench

North Hollywood is fairly large, but the part of it near Univsersal City and Studio City is called NOHO. It's got a bike path, (along Chandler) with murals and landscaping. I like Rosemead, it's a nice quiet place for a stroll around the street. Give it a try and let me know if you agree or not.

It's a quirky little town with a charm all its own. The grunion run is famous and if you like unusual activities, this is up your alley!

Grew up here from age 5 to 17 and my parent's still live here. The town has changed quite a bit in terms of demographics, but it's still just a small town that lives in the shadows of Pasadena.

A more hometown feel than posh Malibu, with beautiful tree-lined streets and the same gorgeous mansions, sprawling properties, and designer label-clad people. It's a great place for star-gazing, shopping, or just driving around ogling at how expensive everything is.

I think Lakewood was on a list of the most boring places in the U.S. I wouldn't go that far, but I totally see why it would end up on the list. There are some decent parks, but aside from that, there isn't much going on here. It's a quiet residential area close to some key freeways.
