Lafayette Gourmet is located in the basement of the Galeries Lafayette (huge Parisian shopping mall) on Haussmann. This review is for Lafayette Gourmet since the Galeries is already reviewed elsewhere and those reviews don't talk much about the Gourmet Market. The mall is beautiful but pricey and not particularly special. The Market is worth a visit. It's pretty much a foodie's paradise. Different clusters of spices, meats, cheeses, produce, and baked goods depending on category. The utmost in indulgent, beautiful food from all over the world, but mainly France. The most amazingly delicious breads and cheeses and freshest, most beautiful fruits, and the spices.. OH LORD! Every spice imaginable all laid out in their gorgeous colors and textures and smells. And, when we purchased items (they are pricey..).. they tasted just as delicious as they looked. Some of the best I've ever had. The curry we bought.. omg! The sweets and chocolates.. heavenly! The breads and cheeses we bought for breakfast the next morning..! If a foodie was to die, this is the heaven they'd want to end up in.
