A local friend took me on an introductory tour of Seattle by canoeing along Lake Union. I had so much fun! It was great having a view of Seattle from the water. There were brief panicked and hilarious moments when I had to dodge large boats, but overall, it was a blast!Recommended for:Outdoor Enthusiasts

I think it should be illegal to build an American city *not* on a body of water. I'm not picky; it can be a river, ocean, lake, inlet, sound, or, heck, even a stream. Seattle's Lake Union is an example of everything that's right about urban bodies of water. Waterfront dining, amazing views, better air, neighborhood divisions that make sense. Best way to experience the lake is to take a kayak or boat out (check out the Northwest Outdoor Center).

You just have to love a place like Lake Union where the Kenmore Sea Planes are landing and taking off regularly throughout the day. The yaghts are apparent and the Seattle Skyline is bliss with the Space Needle and EMP as a background. What a wonderland. It's no wonder why they nick name Seattle the Emerald City! I really think it is.

Since this is my hood I love to go to sleep and wake up to the lake. It is a true working lake so there are always lights on the lake so it never becomes a black hole at night. On the east side of the lake is a little neighborhood called Eastlake and above that is the Capital Hill neighborhood. On the westside is the Queen Anne neighbor hood and the Space Needle. To the north is Gasworks Park and of couse south of the lake is downtown Seattle. This is one of the best places to live in Seattle. On Tuesday nights May to the end of September is "Duck Dodge" a sailboat regatta. It is a beautiful way to spend an evening at one of the many lakeside restaurants. If you come to Seattle spend some time in my hood.
