When the lake is full, this is a fun place to go sailing and paddle around. Even now, the resort still offers a peaceful view with plenty of activities. There is a full-service spa with various massages and body treatments. My friend was married here and they did her make up too! There are 3 different pool areas with water slides, pool-side dining, a heated whirlpool (which keep in mind this is Texas). During my visit they were re-modeling the pool area, staff said they would temporarily open it during spring break. There's an onsite bar and steak house that is very elegantly set yet not flashy. The rooms are nothing to write home about; however, I think there is enough going on here that you're really only sleeping in the rooms - for which they are set to provide you with a wonderful night's sleep.

This lakeside resort and spa delivers a distinctly Austin getaway, with a refined, all-encompassing focus on healthy living. Daily offerings include a wide range of activities, like morning yoga classes, hydro bike sessions on the calm waters of Lake Austin (just a few hundred yards from the luxurious lakeview rooms), specialty spa services and customized daily menus of healthy, organic fare for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Additional property highlights include onsite herb and floral gardens, cozy sitting rooms and libraries, lakeside hammocks, indoor pool and spa facilities and a handful of friendly cats who love to snuggle up beside guests lounging on their front patio lounge chairs.

The use of the word "spa" is getting a little out of hand lately. While other hotels just have a menu of a dozen spa services this is a true spa resort. With a holistic look at your health and peace of mind.

The facility is not huge but it is beautifully appointed. The classes are excellent and the services expensive but worth every penny.

If you want to get out on Lake Travis, and have the spa amenities, this is the solution. The location is great, the lake activities are a lot of fun, and the resort itself is setup nicely with nice rooms and views.

Austin can be a bit overwhelming with its traffic, hustle and bustle. The resort washed all that away. The lake may be low due to drought, but it's still a beautiful sight from the newly-remodeled resort. Consider a lakeside king bed room with balcony to enjoy the view. The rooms are large and cozy, and the bathroom mirror is framed in light to give a pristine reflection. The pool -- heated, unheated, kiddie and waterside and hot tub -- are the best I've seen. They also overlook the lake. The resort has a first rate restaurant with all varieties of steaks and seafood. The large fitness center has enough to get the blood flowing, and a coffee shop and spa services round it out. I really dig the woodsy "back porch" bar. Valet will set you back a modest $12, or you can self-park. It's a long residential drive away from the commercial center of Lakeway. I dig it.

There is a reason the Lake Austin Spa Resort tops so many travel lists as America’s favorite destination spa. With over 100 spa treatments, and body scrubs that will make your mouth water: A Rosemary Citron Sensation or the Pear and Fig Body Polish? Jasmine Java or a Pumpkin Body Wrap? The Spa massages are just as inviting, Lemongrass Bamboo Bless. YES Please.

Looking over Lake Travis, Lakeway Resort and Spa is grand! The Resort includes heated pools, three in count, and one includes a children’s playplace, and a restaurant called Josey’s. However, there is a quiet mini-bar right below the lobby of the Resort and is recommended for those just wanting a drink or two to relax and enjoy. The rooms are not as grand however. They are simply furnished with almost no wall decorations. There is a separate vanity from the bathroom which makes it convenient to put on make-up if needed while another uses the restroom. Hopefully, there won’t be a need to spend too much time in the bedroom or the stay won’t be worthwhile. If a large event is ever needed there is a beautiful ballroom encased around glass windows and doors available. On the side note, renovations are taking place and will be finished in May 2013.
