Don't write this place off as too touristy. It's really relaxing and they often have tea tastings where they explain the history of the tea.

Such a peaceful place in Old Town. Come inside to relax, walk around, gaze out at the lily pond or even take tea with a friend inside the teahouse by the artificial rock waterfall. Authenticity is key here, with artisans and gardeners who came over from China specifically to design and execute this traditional garden. Even kids won't be too bored here, with interactive DIY activities like calligraphy and tossing fortune sticks.

The Lan Su Chinese Garden is a walled garden in Portland that takes up an entire city block. The garden may be popular, but there are plenty of nooks to enjoy quiet, peaceful moments. Don't miss the Tao of Tea for a cup of tea and small bites.

If you need brownie points with your girlfriend, bring her here. The tranquility of the garden will help her forget that time you cancelled dinner on her to bro out with your buddies at a Trailblazers game. And it will help her forgive you for forgetting her birthday...twice.
Seriously, though. It may sound cheesy but this place is a great way to spend a few hours of your afternoon with someone you care about. It's quiet, calm, and sophisticated. Try the tea room, too! Great way to converse and calm your nerves with a great cup of tea.
