If you're looking for beauty and a relatively relaxed walk, Land's End is the best bang for your buck in San Francisco. If you luck out and get a clear day, the views of the ocean and Golden Gate Bridge and the Marin Headlands will blow your brain. But it's even beautiful in the fog, with the ghostly cypress trees, the sound of the ocean breaking down on the rocks below you, and the tip of the bridge poking up on the horizon. While you're there, make sure to go down the stairs to old Sutro Baths and caves. It's really easy to get here, too - just take the 38 bus from Market Street or Geary and take it to the last stop.

With Pacific Ocean shipwrecks visible in low tide and a rock-hewn meditative labyrinth, the 3.4-mile Lands End Trail is not your average hiking path. The trail is at the far edges of San Francisco's northwestern end, so the fog and wind can pick up quickly (especially in the afternoon), making this feel like even more of an adventure.

My favorite out doors activity in San Francisco. Its a trail between baker beach and Ocean beach ending at the Sutro batch and the Cliff House. You get to see incredible views of the city, the golden gate bridge, and marin.

This is the main trail in the park but there are a lot of trails that branch off from it. It's very scenic as you'll be able to see Marin County, the Golden Gate Bridge, Point Bonita Lighthouse and a couple more spots along the trail. Parking is free and there's also a visitor's center (with restrooms!) to help you with your hike if needed. It's a fairly easy hike! Be sure to bring a bottle of water and a light jacket or sweater.

Very easy hike and good with kids with panoramic views of the Pacific and the Golden Gate bridge. If you go with kids and hike down to the rock maze, mind the cliffs.Recommended for:Family Travelers

It's hands down the wildest trail that courses through the terrain along the City's western edge. Rugged landscapes emerging from the Cityscape, you'll feel you've been transported far from San Francisco.
