Original Review: A city of over-indulgence. Of all the cities I've visited, LV is my least favorite. I'd rather spend my money and time elsewhere, thank you.
Updated Review (2013): Las Vegas has grown on me. I ran my first half-marathon here right on the strip, and that trip sort of changed my view of Las Vegas. It's not bad. Not bad at all.

Allow me to preface this by saying that I am no Las Vegas expert, but that I've visited a time or two, and therefore feel qualified to throw in my two cents. To cut to the heart of it, I think Las Vegas is great, in limited doses. Vegas (or the Strip, where most people tend to confine themselves) is among the most artificial places on Earth, a Disneyland for adults built on the notion that vices work best when they are both maximized and combined. Thusly, drinking, smoking, casual sex (should you be so lucky) and -- of course -- gambling, are the big items on the menu. It' important to keep in mind, however, that you can do literally NONE of these things are still have an amazing time. The casinos and the strip itself are lurid neon spectacles which must be seen to be believed, and the shopping malls inside them over-the-top with luxury. Eating and clubbing are both top-notch here (though rather on the pricey side, even as America goes), but what I like best about the town? THE SHOWS. With something like a dozen permanent Cirque du Soleil spectaculars running at different casinos, and delightful musical and variety and burlesque acts (I happen to be partial to Spamalot) happening every night all up and down the strip, it becomes abundantly clear that Vegas is a place to be ENTERTAINED, and the more you accustom yourself to this hedonistic imperative, the better time you'll have. Of course, even Hunter S. Thompson had to flee, at the end, back across the desert; but this is why the airport is so close. In the end, Vegas is a wonderland, and must be visited with this in mind.

I'm pretty sure that Vegas is Disney World for adults. I have never seen so many brazenly drunk and fumbling people in one place in my life. I did love it, and walking up and down the strip is like one hilarity after another. Definitely need to show up with money though.Recommended for:Nightlife Lovers

It's good for a weekend visit, but if you're not a gambler, I wouldn't stay here for more than 3 days. Go here to check out the casino buffets and shows. Cirque du Soleil is worth seeing and the Bellagio's buffet is one of the best in Las Vegas.

Neon lights, down-and-dirty gambling halls, glam casinos & red-carpet nightclubs, offbeat art galleries, roaming food trucks, $1 deep-fried Oreo cookies covered in powdered sugar, 100-oz refillable margaritas, electro dance clubs & pool parties, desert gardens, atomic testing grounds, mobster history museums, Elvis impersonators, the Zombie Apocalypse Store, some of the world's highest thrill rides, late-night poker tournaments...if you run out of things to do in Las Vegas, you're just not trying hard enough. *wink*

Viva Lost Wages. This city has it all. Literally; the rich, the poor, the klassy, the trashy, the slutty, the prude, hell they have everything… even Yule Brenner a time or two…
One night in Bangkok doesn’t hold a candle to one night in Vegas. The gambling, the strip bars, the alcohol, hell if you got the cash you can likely find it in Vegas. One night in Bangkok should be rewritten for this place:
One night in Vegas and the world's your oyster
The bars are temples but the pearls ain't free
You'll find a god in every golden cloister
And if you're lucky then the god's a she
I can feel an angel sliding up to me
One night in Vegas makes a hard man humble
Not much between despair and ecstasy
One night in Vegas and the tough guys tumble
Can't be too careful with your company
I can feel the devil walking next to me
Tell me that isn’t an apt description of Sin City? If you want to find it here, you will…
Personally I love this town at times and hate it at others. When you are here during the weekend, its non-stop uncontrolled craziness, during the week, the population is halved from the weekends and slowed way down to just crazy.
Its close to a lot of fun activities other than just gambling gluttony and shows of visible excitement. For example there is; Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon, the Grand Canyon, etc etc etc. Don’t forget that most of the casinos are in and of themselves tourist destinations to see as well as eat shop and gamble like; Statosphere tower, Luxor Pyramid, NY NY Roller Coaster, Circus Circus Midway, etc.
Let alone the food here now is unbelievably good now. Yes you can still find the cut rate cheap buffet here or there, but most of the hotels and restaurants in town are definitely cutting edge fresh and super tasty. Albeit some want to break the bank, but many are well within reason.
Dang I wish I could go back right now… I miss this place and all the good and bad things that come from it. See you there soon!

We love Las Vegas and we frequently write about great things to do in the city.
Some of our favorite attractions include:
- Skyjump at the Stratosphere
- Pool Party at the Encore Beach Club
- Club at Marquee Night Club
- Have a steak at Craftsteak
- Ride a super sport car in one of the racing tracks

It's glitzy, its fun, its dazzling its a spectacle of lights!!!!
The nightlife in Vegas is second to none, you can visit one of the many casinos for a fun night out. There are a huge number of restaurants in the city which offer different types of cuisines from around the world and nightclubs go throughout the night and challenge even the most ardent party goer.
No other city can compete with the events, concerts and shows as Las Vegas, no matter what you're looking for, they've got just the event. Whether it's the latest Cirque show or Stand-up comics, impressionists, ventriloquists and magicians, concerts, cabarets......it's all there.
The Strip is a four-mile stretch down Las Vegas Boulevard and home to the fabulous resorts that incorporate everything from an enormous pyramid and the New York skyline, to a colossal circus tent and even the famous Eiffel Tower of Paris. The magnificent Luxor, the famed New York New York, Mandalay Bay, Caesars Palace, Bellagio, Venetian and many more are each lavishly decorated and visitors can move from an Italian village on the water to a bustling sidewalk café in Paris to a medieval castle, to ancient Rome in just one place.
The city also has fantastic attractions including the enormous shopping malls which will keep even the most ardent shopper busy for the day. There are a number of museums in the city which are a good way of learning about the history of the city and the state of Nevada. If you get tired of the bright lights of Vegas you can always go for a trip outside the city as not far from the city there are notable landmarks which are of interest to visit including the Hoover dam and in the next county of Arizona is the Grand Canyon which is always worth a visit. There are also many adventure tours available, including quad biking and bunji jumping in the desert, sky diving, racing cars as well as many others.
What can I say? One of my very favorite places on the planet!!!!

I'm not a Gambler (although I have won a couple of dollars :-), but I like this Crazy city very much. We doubted if we should stay one or two nights in Las Vegas on our roundtrip. Luckily we booked two, it was great!

Las Vegas is over the top, crowded, loud, and drunk, but that doesn't mean you have to be. I use the city as a base for the things around Vegas. There are lots of great things away from the Strip.
