This charmer manages to be right in the pumping heart of Santiago and also feel like a respite from it. It manages to be both luxurious and casual. Ensconced in the restored mansion is a private patio, with walls so tall and so lavished in foliage that the noise of the nearby artery is nil. Float in the pool, or just lay by it, a glass of champagne in your hand. Is it raining? Delight in a cup of hot cocoa on the covered patio, watching miniature ponds form on the bougainvilla.

Nestling in one of Santiago's most up-and-coming barrios this 14-room hotel offers great value though the charm of the 1920s building sadly hasn't rubbed off on the comfortable but otherwise undistinctive rooms, decorated with the kind of middle-of-the road contemporary touches you'll find anywhere these days. That said, the surrounding neighbourhood offers plenty of restaurants and wine bars, so top marks for location.

This hotel is more of a modern apartment building with full functioning kitchens than a hotel but nonetheless it still provides much of the same services as a hotel to include daily room service. This can be a great stay for one night but it is ideal for longer stays such as week long conferences or if you are studying abroad for a semester. The prices fluctuate according to how long your stay is and if you are a student or not. These apartments are wonderful with the added benefit of being in "el estarria" neighborhood. When ever I am close by I love to come and spend an afternoon or evening here enjoying the European style neighborhood with no less than 20 amazing restaurants. Also the Santa Lucia Cerro (hill) is a stone throw away and it is a great spot to spend a whole Sunday walking, eating, or sleeping with some of the best people watching in all of Santiago.
