The place to go to if you want to experience prime rib. Spinning bowl salad, Lawry's cut of Prime rib medium rare, a side of mashed potatoes and gravy, and creamed spinach - a perfect way to celebrate a special occasion.

I like Lawry's. There's complimentary meatballs and chips while you wait for your table haha. But it doesn't quite feel like 4 stars rating, almost. I'm not wowed by it but I can't say that it doesn't taste good... The meat is juicy, mashed potatoes are alright, the salad is a little too overdressed, the yorkshire pudding is ok too. Additional sides are $6 each?? Kind of expensive for corn and spinach... The corn is really good. But I think an entree should be good on its own without having to order additional sides. I've tried the lobster tail and it was disappointing.
I've been there a couple of times because of friends who wanted to go. To me though it's not a place that I crave or care to go back to because the menu is always the same.. I like to try new things.

Great place to take your family out for a special occasions. I expected more from the prime rib but overall i thought it was alright. Favorite part of the night was the sides and the salad! But definitely a place to eat at once.

I love Lawry's. It had the best prime rib experience ever. Yorkshire pudding, amazing sides, huge metal serving cart for the prime rib, spinning salad. I could go on and on. If you go more then twice a year, go sign up for VIP, you'll be happy. I love this place, and only a few in the US. 5 different cuts of prime rib.
English cut - 3 pieces
Lawry's cut - perfect
Jim Brady, thick and on bone
Then one more that's huge! I dare you.

Most Americans know Lawry's only as a brand of seasoned salt (which was invented here). Going to this family-run institution is an old-world event, where the main menu offerings are four cuts of Prime rib that vary in thickness from two fingers to an entire hand. Every standing rib roast is dry-aged for 2 to 3 weeks, sprinkled with Lawry's famous seasoning, and then roasted on a bed of rock salt. A carver wheels the cooked beef tableside, then slices it properly, rare to well-done. All dinners come with creamy whipped horseradish, Yorkshire pudding, and the Original Spinning Bowl Salad (drenched in Lawry's signature sherry French dressing). Lawry's moved across the street from its original location years ago but retained its throwback-to-the-1930s clubroom atmosphere, complete with Persian-carpeted oak floors, high-backed chairs, and European oil paintings.

Lawry's has a menu, but you really go there for the prime rib and spun salads. Although this is the original, where they feed the Rose Bowl players, I'm used to the one in Chicago.
This one is not too far away from the Largo Theater.

I took my ex bf there because I was such a great gf LOL
The Prime Rib here is probably the best Prime Rib I have ever had in LA. I had the Lawry's cut (medium rare of course) and it was just soooo perfectly juicy and tender and the horseradish went so well with it! They have a great selection of wine!
I did not know about the meatball and chips while waiting thing~ I should look out for that next time!

Lawry's is THE place for prime rib. It's simply awesome. It's odd that a classic meat place originated from LA, but the second location in Chicago has been there for so long that many people assume it's a "Chicago classic" rather than from the land of silicone, celebs, and great sushi :)
Their cuts are excellent along with the tasty sides and horseradish sauce that blends perfectly into the meat. I probably have 12 lbs of undigested meat in my bowels from going their for the past 20+ years.
This is how I explain part of my weight gain to my wife. I tell her that I'm only 28 lbs over my weight in college... 40 lbs of fatness minus 12 lbs of undigested meat = 28 lbs of extra baggage
