I worked for Inaki Aizpitarte, and though my stay in his kitchen was brief, I'll
forever count him and right-hand man Laurent as mentors. It's everything
you want in a restaurant -- loud, exuberant, imbalanced, daring, impulsive,
and stocked with amazing wine. It doesn't give a damn (but does), and
that's precisely why it's one of the best restaurants in the world.Recommended for:

There is no booking possible so chances are there is usually a bit of waiting involved but it is really worth it. The crowd, bohemian chic, the decoration, classic, the atmosphere, relaxed, the service, french (i.e. cool but don't ask for a change in this or that, or else...). The food is THE class act: Superb cooking, creative without trying too hard. A big hit in Paris.

Recently rated one of the top 50 restaurants in the world, this is a great place: "It's hard not to be excited by Le Chateaubriand. It is effortlessly cool, understated yet accomplished, democratic, affordable and, perhaps most importantly, fun. Its lack of airs and graces – hard chairs and bare tables, the take-it-or-leave-it five-course fixed-price menu and the championing of natural wines – is not to everyone's tastes, but Le Chateaubriand doesn't really care."
