So, this joint is in all the guidebooks, but who cares? It's good, and it's cheap (and real live Lebanese people eat there too). It's a great little time capsule, with weird murals and paintings on the walls. Specials change every day, and you can get all kinds of home-cooking kinds of dishes, as well as simple stuff like boiled artichokes. Wish I'd eaten here more.

This is a must-visit place in Beirut for all visitors. Le Chef isn't the cleanest or most extravagant place, but it serves all sorts of traditional lebanese dishes (for very cheap) and also has an exciting atmosphere. The thing you will hear most about it is the owner: He's always there and is constantly yelling WELCOME to customers and passers by.
